“Stop Playing, 16 Y/o LeBron James Can’t Go To The NBA”: Dwyane Wade Couldn’t Fathom The Hype Around His ‘Best Friend’

Long before he had a Fab 3 in Miami, LeBron James was part of a Fab 5 at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School, in Akron, Ohio. In the recently, released ‘Shooting Stars’, we could see and know about the teammates who helped the greatest prodigy in sports history, win his team 3 state championships in 4 years of high school. Since the movie came out earlier this month, the internet has been full of some never-seen-before clips of James.

The Fab 5, which we barely knew about, included his teammates Willie McGee, Sian Cotton, Romeo Travis, and Lil Dru. The King himself has been sharing some clips of himself and his 4 teammates with his 155,000,000 followers on Instagram.

LeBron James shares a rare clip of himself at 17 years, tormenting college juniors

In one of his Instagram stories, the 4x NBA champion shared a rare VHS clip back from 2002, where he and his fab 5 of St. Vincent–St. Mary High School were playing against a junior college team at practice. You can check out the screenshot of the same in the tweet by @NBACelebsUpdate below.

LeBron James, 17 at the time, was yet to become a senior in high school and was tormenting a number of more experienced players with some awe-inspiring dunks. Watch it in the following Instagram post by ‘THE DUNK GUY‘.

James has still got a dunk package

You might remember him missing a wide-open dunk against the Nuggets in Game 2 of the WCF this year, but the 37-year-old is still capable of flying as high as most people can’t hope to even in their athletic primes.

As soon as he came into the league in 2003, James asserted his dominance around the rim with authority. He gave us some mesmerizing dunks and posters over the years.

However, unlike most other superstars, he doesn’t have a dunk contest trophy in his massive cabinet. In fact, he hasn’t participated in one in his 20-year career. Why, you ask? Find the answer in the tweet by @ScoopB below.

In other words, he never participated simply because it was never his goal to participate in or win the NBA slam dunk content.
