“Rocco makes me better”: Klay Thompson Revealed How his Dog Helped him Cope With NBA's Relentless Pressure

Most of the players in the NBA prefer to have a life outside the league. While many spend quality time with friends, companions or family, Klay Thompson spends the majority of his time off the court with his pet dog.

If you aren’t a Golden State Warriors fan – Rocco is Thompson’s 10-year-old dog. And while the rest of the members of the GSW spend time with their wives and girlfriends, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard loves the relationship he has with Rocco.

“Rocco will tighten up your handles”: Klay Thompson

Klay has suffered through some of the most horrific injuries. And during these testing times, the sharpshooter would gather motivation and peace due to Rocco’s presence.

In an interview from back in 2018, the 2-time All-NBA member disclosed how his pet would help get his mind off the “high-pressure job”.

“We’re very performance-based, and it’s a high-pressure job,” Thompson told The Mercury News. “Obviously, we get compensated very well. But it’s still got its rigors that people don’t know about. Having a dog can do wonders that you don’t even realize.”

Further, The Splash Brother is often seen in the gym with his dog.

Giving credits to Rocco for tightening his handles, the 4-time NBA champ said:

“I do dribbling drills with that dude, and he will tighten up your handles. So, yes, he makes me better.”

Clearly, the relationship Klay shares with his pet dog is beyond special.

Klay’s stats from this season

The Golden State Warriors are having a turbulent season. Sitting 10th in the West, the defending champs possess a 23-24 record.

While Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole have been the stars for the Warriors so far, Thompson has also been having a pretty great campaign.

Only a season after returning back from injuries, Thompson is putting up 20.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game on 41.7/38.9/89.9 shooting splits.
