Scott Foster has a long history in controversy, but his run-ins with Chris Paul, in particular, have been very ugly

The Phoenix Suns are probably cussing the living hell out of Scott Foster right now. And frankly, it isn’t without reason.
As countless Chris Paul fans will likely know by now, the Point God has lost his last 12 games, when Foster was officiating. But this whole thing runs so much deeper than that.
The NBA community never thought his record would be the cleanest, but hoo boy. Once you take a closer look at the referee’s history, you’ll start questioning just why he still has his job.
There is a lot to unpack here, and each and every little detail is one you’re going to want to hear.
So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
The Donaghy association, CP3 history, and so much more: The History of Scott Foster in the NBA
Let’s start off with the connection to Scott Foster’s old pal, Tim Donaghy, shall we?
Now, if you thought the man of the hour was controversial, perhaps Donaghy will provide some perspective.
Just a few short years ago, the official admitted to betting on NBA games. He had a betting phone through which he contacted his bookies, middlemen, and even other referees. It got so bad, that the FBI, yes the Federal Bureau of Investigation had to get involved. And only then was there a confession.
Why does this matter? Because out of the many calls that were made through this gambling phone, 134 calls were made by Tim Donaghy to Scott Foster. Since this was revealed, Foster has often said that they were all normal, water cooler-type conversations. But, of course, no one believes the excuse.

As the heading would indicate though, that isn’t our last topic of conversation here. No, no, no, we still have his history with Chris Paul.
His officiating against the Suns star has always been terrible. But, his calls during CP3’s last 3 playoff games have especially been horrifying.
In game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals, the Rockets faced off, and eventually lost to the Warriors. But, what was not as well known is, Houston later audited this game, and later found 81 missed calls during the match.
Moving on, in game 7 between the Rockets and the Thunder last season, Paul was stalling to challenge a call that was made. He even had a mild-mannered conversation with Scott Foster about it at the time, but got a technical foul for tying his shoelaces right after.
And of course, we have last night. The Suns barely got any calls at all. In fact, it was so bad that the team as a whole only attempted 16 free throws during this game. For context here, Giannis Antetokounmpo alone attempted 17.

And now, you are up to date. If you’re a Suns fan, we’d ask you how you feel, but we’re pretty sure we know the answer. So, we’ll take this time not to remind you that it is very likely that Scott Foster officiates game 5 of the NBA Finals as well.
Jokes aside though, this is bad for the West champions. Can they overcome this whole controversy? Or will it be the reason for their demise?
