“Shaquille O’Neal Shouldn’t Rap, He Can Barely Speak”: Jimmy Kimmel Went At Kobe Bryant And Lakers Center At A Roast
Shaquille O’Neal has always been one to be able to take a joke. Despite his 7’1 near demonic frame, O’Neal is the literal definition of what a ‘gentle giant’ what would like in real life. Kevin Garnett said it best when he said that the world is lucky O’neal was raised right because everybody would be in for a world of hurt if he wasn’t.
Shaq being able to laugh at himself comes from the fact that he knows he doesn’t have to prove himself. He’s one of the greatest centers of all time with his 4 championships, 3 Finals MVP, a regular season MVP and countless All-NBA and All-Star nods to his name.
So, when it came to getting roasted on stage by Jimmy Kimmel, Shaq agreed to do so without any hesitation. Though, Kimmel might have taken it a bit too far for today’s standards. Back then, over 2 decades ago however, these jokes were seemingly killing it for the audience.
Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant get roasted by Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel, prior to getting his own late night television show, was the roastmaster for Comedy Central’s Roast. Back in 2001, Shaquille O’Neal, along with a slew of other celebrities, was called onto the stage to get roasted by Jimmy and the rest.
Kimmel went especially hard on Shaq, saying he shouldn’t be rapping because he could barely speak in the first place. Seems as though O’Neal having a Platinum record to his name meant little to nothing for the comedian.
He would also say that Shaq’s ‘member’ looked like Muggsy Bogues in a fur hat. The joke that really took it over the edge was when he made fun of Kobe Bryant dating Vanessa Bryant as she was still in high school when he started to date her.

Shaquille O’Neal has been on roasts since then
Shaquille O’Neal, being the humorous man that he is, has since been on Celebrity roasts as well. His most famous one would have to be when he was on stage for the ‘Roast of Justin Bieber’.
Following his retirement from the NBA, Shaq would get snagged by ‘Inside the NBA’ where it feels as though the entirety of his job description read ‘make jokes with Charles Barkley’. Safe to say that he’s excelled at this for well over a decade now.
