Taking After Shaquille O'Neal's $350,000 Customization, Dwight Howard Shows Off His Championship Ring Activated Rolls Royce

Both Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard have a few things in common, from being dominant centers to using the same using nickname of “Superman”. And, recently, one such similarity off the court came to the forefront. Much like Diesel, who once paid $350,000 for a car customization, Howard revealed on Instagram, that he has customized his Rolls Royce with the help of modern technology and his championship ring.

However, Shaq loathed the comparisons between himself and Dwight. Things even took a turn for the worse after the Superman nickname. This has resulted in years and years of hate from Shaq’s end.

Back in 1996, Shaq had a reputation for splurging the big bucks. One of his favorite things to purchase was fast cars. However, given his 7’1″, 325-pound frame, fitting in these cars was often difficult. Such was the case when he purchased a silver Ferrari. So what did he do? Well, he paid $350,000 to move the motor from the back of the car, where it was traditionally placed, to the front. But, this led to a $9 problem that his Lakers teammates made fun of him for, as the original motor wouldn’t fit and needed to be replaced with that of a lawnmower.

Dwight Howard shows off his customized Rolls Royce that can be started with his championship ring

Dwight Howard recently shared a video showcasing the latest edition of his garage. Showing off his new purple Rolls Royce to rapper D’Aydrian, Howard explained some of the cool features of the car. In particular, he pointed out the unique way in which the car can be started. All D’Aydrian could do was look in awe as he placed Howard’s 2020 Championship ring on the hood ornament and the car started.

It’s a very cool customization, to say the least. After all, it incorporates the use of modern technology and almost feels like something out of a spy movie. That being said, it reportedly cost him a huge $500,000 to get it done. A hefty amount, but one that Howard probably isn’t too bothered by.

Apart from the $500,000 customization, Howard had a particular reason for having it painted purple. A huge fan of the Avengers franchise, he had it painted that color in honor of his favorite character, Thanos. Coincidentally, he bought the car in 2019, the same year the Endgame movie was released and also the year he was playing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s a really cool car and the newly added feature makes it all the more special. While the feasibility of such a modification, and questions regarding its use may arise, all that matters is that Howard likes it. And so does everyone else who has seen it in person.

Despite their beef, Shaq has praised Dwight for how good he was in his prime

As mentioned earlier, Dwight Howard still has ongoing issues with his idol, Shaquille O’Neal. Howard strived to be like him, but this didn’t sit well with Shaq. He hated being compared to Dwight and over the years, he has been highly critical of the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year’s every single move. He even bashed his move to Taiwan.

However, it seems as though Shaq has softened his stance in recent times. He has been praising Dwight for his performances in his prime, sharing footage that hypes his fellow center on Instagram. He even supported the argument that Howard’s snub from the NBA 75 was criminal.

Perhaps there is still hope for Shaq and Dwight. They may have fallen out in the years past, but all it takes is for one of them to take the first step toward mending their relationship. And, from the looks of it, The Big Aristotle is ready to make that move.
