On Tuesday night, the 2020 champions Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Julius Randle-led New York Knicks at the Staples Centre. LAL, who were coming off a huge victory against the in-form Phoenix Suns, were playing without the likes of LeBron James. In an action-packed overtime thriller that went down to the wire, the Lakers managed to clinch a close 101-99 win.
In a defensive battle against the two rivals, it was Talen Horton-Tucker’s game-winning three-pointer that sealed the win for Los Angeles Lakers. It was a great performance for the 20-year-old who managed to finish with a 13-point and 10-assists double-double outing.

“The kid has confidence and plays with a lot of heart.”: Anthony Davis on THT
Talen Horton-Tucker’s impressive performance led to the Lakers grab a much-needed win. His praise-worthy performance did deserve recognition as Anthony Davis lauded the 6-foot-4 shooting guard. AD, who himself had a 20-point night, spoke about THT:
“The kid has confidence. He has heart. For his second year in the league, you don’t see that from a lot of players.”

“He wants to be great in this league. He wants to make the right plays, and he’s always asking questions… That’s all you can ask for from a young player.”
As a second-year player coming off the bench for a star-studded Lakers team, Talen has been pretty efficient this whole season. While he has been averaging 8.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, he has played a vital role as LBJ remains sidelined with injuries.
Grabbing this much-needed win, the 7th seed Lakers are now only 1 game behind than 5th and 6th seeded Portland and Dallas. With a mediocre 39-30 record, the Lakers continue to fight hard to avoid the play-in tournament.
