“The Coaching Staff Obviously Knows Something’s Up”: NBA Fans React to 6FT 7” Luka Doncic Coughing in Blowout Loss to the Celtics

Luka Doncic is having an incredible season. He is putting up monumental numbers for the Dallas Mavericks and helping them win despite injuries and poor team depth. The Slovenian, though, has remained unstoppable. In fact, his offensive output has been so high level that he is leading the league in scoring.

Luka’s evolution this season is scary considering he is just 23. But as a 6ft 7″ primary point guard, Doncic desperately needs good defensive and offensive help. Many believe that the Mavericks are pushing him too much.

During his most recent appearance against the Celtics, Luka Doncic seemed off his game. The entire night, he could be seen coughing and clutching at his chest. Although no sickness has been notified, it was clear the Slovenian felt unwell. Fans had their own say over the matter.

Fans react to Luka Doncic coughing

Luka played just 31 minutes in the game against Boston. And though he had 23 points in the game, his impact was negligible. Boston was ahead of Dallas and kept the game in the control.

After the game, NBA fans took to Twitter to decipher what was going on with Luka. Some fans were concerned Luka and the Mavs were lying about him not being ill. On the other hand, a few believed Dallas was overworking Luka.

Dallas Mavericks relying too much on Luka?

The Mavs are indeed relying on Luka too much. His recent numbers prove the output he is being asked for. In his last 6 games before the Celtics, Luka was averaging 44.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 9.8 assists. He was also averaging over 40 minutes of playing time.

This is too exhausting for any athlete. To be expected to lead your team to victory without much help must be taking a toll on Doncic. Hopefully, this is just a small hiccup and Doncic will be able to heal soon enough.
