Michael Jordan is perhaps the greatest player the NBA has ever seen. The man is a legend, who revolutionized the game of basketball both on and off the court.

Having spent 15 seasons in the league, Jordan won six NBA Championships, six Finals MVPs, a DPOY, and five regular season MVPs. It is these five MVPs that have inspired the NBA to rename and remake the trophy in honor of MJ.
The new trophy is spectacular and has several features that reflect His Airness’ glorious time in the league. However, there is one thing that is a bit off. For some reason, the NBA decided to make the trophy in Milwaukee.
The new Michael Jordan trophy was made in Milwaukee
The NBA made a big change last year when it decided to remake several of its trophies in order to honor some of the greats of the game. The most notable change was the MVP trophy, which was renamed and remade as the new Michael Jordan trophy.
The trophy has several elements that pay homage to Jordan. Specifically his six titles, his five MVPs, his 15-season career, and his legendary jersey No.23. But, one thing about the trophy is that it was made in Milwaukee.

The league office decided to get Vanguard Sculpture Services a foundry located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to make the trophy.
A detail that seems out of place. Especially given the effort put into making it as symbolic of Jordan as possible, and more importantly the fact that he played in Chicago.
But guess who also lives in Milwaukee, the best player in the league currently, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Jordan did not want the trophy to bare any resemblance to him
Of course, at the end of the day, the NBA only chose a Milwaukee-based foundry because they wanted the best of the best. Vanguard did a great job, the trophy is a work of art. But, fans have noted that it bares little to no resemblance to its namesake, Michael Jordan. The reason was that Jordan himself did not want it to look like him.
MJ did not want future winners to see him when they won the trophy. Rather they should see themselves in it. An honorable motive from the Hall of Famer.
