“This Is the Real D Wade”: ‘Stunned’ Redditor Missed Out on Dwyane Wade ‘Sliding Into His Facebook DMs’ 14 Years Ago
Back in 2008, Facebook was the premier social media platform. Everybody was on it, celebrities, actors, influencers, even NBA superstars. , In 2009, one of the greatest NBA superstars of all time, Dwyane Wade joined the website. At the time, many doubted the legitimacy of these celebrity profiles. However, fast-forward 14 years, and one Redditor has dug out some old DMs from D-Wade’s account, which is now believed to be the real deal.
The early 2000s saw the social media boom take the world by storm. Several platforms presented themselves, but it was Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook that came to the forefront. Everyone was flocking to these sites, as it was a great way to communicate in the online space. Even athletes and celebrities jumped in on the action, as it allowed them to stay in touch with their communities. Redditor digs up 14-year-old DMs he received from Dwyane Wade on Facebook
Recently, a Redditor was scrolling through his Facebook profile when he found a DM request from an unlikely source. He realized that 14 years ago, he had received a message request from none other than Dwyane Wade himself. Something that they couldn’t believe.
The message in question was a heartwarming one. He thanked the Redditor for his love and support, appreciating the comments he had left on his page. He then went into how he was planning to get into the “whole Facebook thing” and that he would share some of his thoughts every now and then. D-Wade then signed off, thanking the user again for all the good wishes.
Flash also made mention of the road game the Miami Heat had against the Utah Jazz coming up. And, fittingly, the Redditor happened to be in the building that night, watching the game. All the while unaware that one of the basketball’s newest Hall of Famers had sent him a message.
