'Warriors dynasty is still intact': Stephen A Smith retains his faith in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson

Despite Klay Thompson’s Achilles tear injury, Stephen A Smith has refused to rule the Warriors out returning to champion picture.

Most NBA fans regard Steph Curry and Klay Thompson as the greatest backcourt duo in the history of the game. Stephen A Smith’s statement is simply a matter of paying respect to that status they enjoy. Curry and Thompson made the All-Star Game in all 5 seasons when they went to the NBA Finals.

Before Thompson’s injury, the Warriors were considered the major threat to the Lakers’ crown. Despite losing Kevin Durant, people had utmost faith in Steph Curry’s gamechanging range and Klay Thompson’s legendary 3-and-D play. This injury means, however, that we may be deprived of another chance to enjoy them at their peaks ever again.

Stephen A Smith is not ready to call time on Warriors dynasty

Despite ruling out the Warriors’ chances at making the Finals this year, Stephen A heaped the praise on Klay.

“In terms of Klay coming back, remember, Klay is an elite sniper – one of the top 5 shooter in the history of basketball. A surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer.”

“It was criminal that the media didn’t vote him into the 3rd Team All-NBA that year. That could have cost him $30-35 million and a supermax deal.”

There was no shortage in praise for Steph Curry either:

“Watching Klay and Steph Curry – I mean, it is a show, make no mistake. You walk through the turnstiles to watch what they bring to the table.”

“Ultimately when he comes back, I think they will pick up right where they left off – being championship contenders. Because I don’t believe you lose your shot.”

Stephen A may be a tad optimistic in his opinion of the Warriors’ chances, even if Klay comes back close to his previous fitness. Steph will be 33 next year, and while the duo will still probably continue to be the best shooters in the game, Klay’s defense is liable to take a step back.

Virtually no player has ever returned the same after an Achilles tear. The onus is on KD and Klay to buck the trend and make strong comebacks.
