“We Ain’t Had Any Team Meetings”: Chris Paul Drops ‘Worrying’ Update on His Role on Stephen Curry’s Warriors

It’s been a few months now since Chris Paul’s news of joining the Golden State Warriors broke out. CP3 joined the Dub Nation on a trade deal, following the departure of Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. Paul’s current contract with the Warriors is a $120,000,000, four-year deal, binding him with the franchise till 2027. In a recent interview reported by ClutchPoints, during his camp, Chris Paul revealed his ambitions and role in his new team. Stephen Curry‘s Warriors fans might be a little worried, as Paul revealed no team meetings have been held yet. However, from CP3’s words, it seems evident that he is looking for a starter role on the Golden State roster.

During his introductory conference with the Warriors, Paul seemed quite arrogant talking with the media. CP3 tried shutting down any questions about his thoughts on the Warriors’ squad depth or his role as a potential second unit. This might be enough of a hint for fans that Paul is looking to be a starter for the Warriors.

Chris Paul’s latest update on his Golden State Warriors role might be ‘worrying’ for the fans

Chris Paul is excited and looking forward to playing alongside Stephen Curry and the Splash Brothers at the Dub Nation. The former Clippers star had quite a colorful history competing against the Warriors in the Western Conference. Seeing him play alongside his once rivals brings in new hopes and avenues for the fans to watch the star point guard’s capabilities.

As reported by Clutch Points, Chris Paul dropped a rather worrying update on his Warriors role in his camp. In the interview, Paul revealed that the Warriors have not held any team meetings as of yet. Perhaps, this might be concerning, given Paul might need some bonding time with his teammates to achieve the perfect chemistry. Speaking about the same, CP3 said,

“I won’t know that [his role] until we get to camp, or till we get together. We ain’t had any team meetings or what not. But, it’s crazy, and you know, honestly, same thing has always been. You know, I’m meaning to hoop, leadership, you know. All this years of playing, the game don’t change so much. So, I think I’m excited to sort of figure that out. I’m gonna go out and hoop.”

The Golden State trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have certainly formed a dynasty in the NBA. However, it seems evident that their force is now slowly declining. With Chris Paul joining in, no one is able to pinpoint his exact fit into the mix. Perhaps, Chris Paul’s age might guarantee him a role similar to Andre Iguodala during his final years playing basketball.

Stephen Curry answered the ‘Starter Debate’ following Chris Paul’s arrival

Stephen Curry is excited to play alongside his once-rival Chris Paul in the Warriors. The Baby Faced Assassin had posted a warm welcome message on social media after Paul’s trade deal was finalized. However, Curry has clarified that he is willing to take a sacrifice in order to accommodate new additions to the team.

“You have to bring your egos, bring your full identity of who you are at the table. But you also have to know when to sacrifice for the betterment of the group. What it (the roster) looks like shouldn’t matter, right? We know that there’s, you could argue, 7 guys that they should start. 7 guys that can argue they should finish games. Do the math. There’s gonna be two people, outside of the equation,” said Stephen Curry, in The Ringer’s Real Ones podcast.

Curry believes that CP’s addition is definitely a plus one for the Warriors. Curry has faith in CP3 running the pick-and-roll and speed, which might give a massive offensive boost to the team.
