“We don’t know if Kyrie Irving will play this Sunday”: Steve Nash and his coaching staff remain clueless as to when Nets star will return to play

The Brooklyn Nets hope to have Kyrie Irving back in action for Sunday’s game against the OKC Thunder, when Kevin Durant might also play.

The Nets have been without their star point guard Kyrie Irving for two consecutive games now. They played the Sixers two nights ago and won quite handily through Joe Harris’s efficient 28 points.

The Nets weren’t as formidable last night, however. They fell to the Memphis Grizzlies despite a 43 point effort from Caris LeVert. Kevin Durant has been missing in action as well as he hasn’t suited up since his missed game winner against the Wizards.

The Nets hope to be back to winning ways after their game against the OKC Thunder this Sunday. They currently possess a 5-5 record.

The Nets are hopeful about Kyrie Irving returning to play this Sunday

The reasons as to why Kyrie Irving has missed two consecutive games haven’t been hashed out completely. The Jacob Blake verdict could be a possible explanation for Kyrie’s absence.

A source close to him said: “I messaged with Ky, but I want to keep all that stuff private.” Nets head coach Steve Nash said, “We don’t have any decision on Sunday yet. But we’ll deal with that and figure it out before we go out on Sunday.”

Kyrie Irving has always preached that basketball should never be prioritized over causes like social injustice and racial profiling. Irving was the first to suggest that the NBA not restart their 2019-20 season due to the social unrest within the US. He was also instrumental in covering WNBA stars’ salaries when they decided to opt out of the WNBA Bubble.

Kyrie has received a ton of flak for sitting out games. He is being paid $33 million dollars to play basketball. People believe he does not get to decide when he plays and when he doesn’t.
