Neymar to Barcelona: Blaugrana Vice-President confirms PSG Star's return to Nou Camp

Neymar has already asked about a potential move to Barcelona as per club’s vice-president.

Barcelona’s Vice-President Jordi Cardoner has confirmed that Neymar has expressed his interest over a return to Nou Camp. The Brazilian left the Blaugrana for Paris Saint Germain in 2017, but he is demanding a return to his former club.

Earlier, PSG President Nasser confirmed that the club will not tolerate superstar behaviours, indirectly pointing out Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Behind the scenes, the Brazilian also told the club that he wants to leave at any cost.

Jordi Cardoner just fueled the speculations with an official statement – stating that the 27-year-old would be open to Barcelona move in the summer transfer window. Albeit, the board has not set him as a prime target contrary to other reports.

He said: “Neymar? As far as I know, the club hasn’t done anything to sign him nor do they want him. The board hasn’t set him as a target, but there is a willingness to return from the player. From there on, we’ll have to assess which player – or players – will be signed.”

Cesc Fabregas joined Arsenal and went on to captain the London club. However, he asked for a transfer to Barcelona, wanting to leave to his boyhood club again. Cardoner is not surprised to see Neymar wanting to return back.

“I’m not surprised that a player who left [the club] wants to go back [about Neymar]. There aren’t many places like Barca and Barcelona [the city]. There have been others who left the club and came back, like Cesc [Fábregas].”

“Neymar is a great player. I’ve already assessed the value of his progress [in the past, when he was with Barca], we can’t make value assessments now.”

He has also added that the board will study the situations clearly before taking an action on Neymar’s transfer.

“There are things that I still don’t understand with regards to Neymar leaving. They [his entourage] have transmitted his will to return, but we’d have to study many things and change the scenarios [of other players] to sign him.” Cardoner said.

The club will be forced to hand either one of Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, or Ivan Rakitic if any possible deal should materialize. The Spanish side are prepared to send one of these two and additionally spend 100 million in a cash plus swap deal.
