Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts Reveals What He Gifted His O-Line on Christmas Day Back In His Rookie Year

Quarterbacks spending money on lavish gifts for their O-Line is no longer a surprising story. Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, and others have found one way or the other to show their gratitude to their sworn defenders. However, Not everyone can afford to splurge a lot of money, especially if the QB in question is on a rookie deal. That is precisely the situation Jalen Hurts found himself in when he was a rookie QB.

Jalen Hurts is now one of the highest-paid QBs in the NFL. Thanks to his ever-improving performance, he will remain on top of the money maker’s list for quite a while. However, just a few years ago, he was a rookie that no one knew a lot about. Still, his team trusted him enough to make him a starter. However, all his achievements perhaps would not exist if not for his O-Line protecting him.

Jalen Hurts got his O-Line some nice shoes in his rookie year

Appearing on the ‘New Heights’ show, Hurts, who recently signed a massive $255 million extension deal, talked about how he felt when Christmas came around in his rookie year. “Some cats get their guys golf carts, Rolexes, 4x4s, all that. And I’m like, ‘It’s my first year! I’m like the cheapest dude on the field, you know what I’m saying? Like I can’t do all that,” Hurts explained to Travis and Jason Kelce. “So I got them some Jordans. I tried to keep them fresh with the feet.”

Jason Kelce, who has been part of Hurts‘ O-Line since the beginning, revealed that he still has the pair with him. It seems Hurts may have given Jason two pairs, including a grey-colored set. When Travis is confused as to why grey, Hurts pitches in and says, “You got to speak his language, the Grey Ones”. A perfectly placed pun, about Jason and his greying hair. Hopefully, that doesn’t come back to bite him.

Jalen and Jason prepare for next season as the Eagles remain favorites

The Eagles finished last season as the second-best team in the NFL. While the loss in the Super Bowl must have been heartbreaking, it serves as an indicator of their potential. This season, the Eagles will be more hungry to relive and recreate the performances that took them to the Super Bowl last season. However, they have some pretty tough competition going forward.

For the Eagles to find the same success as they did last season, they will have to fend off a few strong teams. Divisional Rivals Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants will always be a painful presence. However, they might just have to deal with the Carolina Panthers and their new rookie QB Bryce Young. The 49ers, too, will be a tough one to get by. With so many difficult games ahead, how will the Eagles fare?
