"A Below 0.500 Coach Without Tommy”: Colin Cowherd Spills Bitter Truth On Bill Belichick’s Chances Of Getting Fired

The New England Patriots are on a nightmarish run as the franchise sees a new low in over two decades and fingers are being pointed at Bill Belichick. Once hailed as the greatest NFL head coach ever, Belichick’s efficacy is being called into question as the Patriots continue on a downward trajectory ever since Tom Brady’s exit.

Patriots aren’t having a great season. Many now believe that Robert Kraft should part ways with Bill at the end of the season. Colin Cowherd seems to be one of them. On his show “The Herd,” he expressed his belief that Tom Brady was an overwhelming part of Bill Belichick’s success which he is unable to even remotely replicate with Mac Jones.

Bill Belichick is Not Untouchable

In his latest episode, Colin Cowherd explored whether the Patriots would fire Bill Belichick after 27 years of service and create an untouched legacy with Tom Brady. Cowherd unleashed his harshest opinions about the legendary coach Bill Belichick and said,

“Tom Landry got fired, and so did Andy Reed. Belichick is not untouchable because everybody’s replaceable. Belichick’s brand is moving off players a year early and Belichick would cut himself because that’s his brand. He is below .500 coach without Tom Brady and with him, he is winning Super Bowls. He can’t pivot off Tom which shows Tom was much better than we thought. Kraft isn’t demanding that they win Super Bowls. It’s just that they won’t be boring.”

Colin says this in the wake of the Patriots’ disappointing and dreadful season, New England and Bill are now 1-4 this season. In game week 5, they hit a new low. The shutout against the mediocre Saints, losing 34-0 is the second-worst loss of Bill’s career. The worst loss also came this season when they lost 38-3 against the Cowboys.

New England has scored a league-low 55 points this season, while opponents have scored 55 points off of Patriots turnovers.

Belichick May Not Get A Grand Exit as Kraft is Open to Midway Change

Bill has managed the Patriots for the past 23 years. But it seems the greatest story ever written will soon be coming to an abrupt and less-than-honorable end. Patriots haven’t been able to win a playoff matchup since their 2018 Super Bowl victory over the Rams. Frustration is rising among the fans and team.

It seems that owner Robert Kraft doesn’t have any patience left for the legendary coach. According to the Athletic, Kraft is frustrated over their lack of success in the post-Brady era and isn’t opposed to dismissing Belichick. According to the Athletics’ Jeff Howe-

“Kraft likes to remind people he grew up as a Patriots fan during the organization’s darkest days. But that doesn’t mean he has the patience to endure more of them. On multiple occasions in recent years, he has lamented the team’s lack of a postseason victory in the post-Brady era. Kraft has grown frustrated, if not downright angry, over this shortage of success, according to people close to the situation.”

Bill is chasing Don Shula’s record for most wins but it seems he should start counting his days. The Patriots are up next against the Raiders and Josh Allen’s Bills and another loss could just be the tipping point for Kraft to end Belichick’s Patriots tenure. Is Bill Belichick going to be afforded a sendoff with his dignity intact on his own terms or is he going to be let go in the middle of the season itself? One thing is for sure, the narrative, public opinion, and terrible stats currently stand against Belichick so he will not be getting to ride off into the sunset as the greatest coach ever in the NFL.
