“Colin Kaepernick Couldn’t Get An Opportunity To Even Try Out As A DB”: Shannon Sharpe Livid Over Tim Tebow Signing, Believes Kaepernick Deserved It First

Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick has been vying for an NFL comeback for years now. With Tebow signing with the Jaguars, Kaepernick was once again overlooked.

Of course, nobody feels like the Jaguars should have gone after Kaepernick, but the fact that Tebow was able to make it back to the NFL before Kaepernick does raise some eyebrows. Tebow’s comeback to the NFL was made possible by the fact that he agreed to switch positions as he now transitions to tight end.

However, Shannon Sharpe believes that even if Kaepernick had decided to try out as a defensive back, nobody would have given him the same shot Tebow is getting.

Kaepernick’s decision to kneel during the national anthem has been talked about plenty. That decision alone seems to be what derailed his NFL career. Along with Eric Reid, Kaepernick sued the NFL for colluding against him, and the two sides settled on a multi-million dollar settlement. However, Kaepernick doesn’t look to be anywhere close to returning.

Colin Kaepernick Kneeling Response, NFL Sham Tryout, All Show His Fate With The NFL Is Sealed

The NFL has largely been unresponsive to the fact that no NFL team has so much as even called Kaepernick up to offer him a workout.

There was instance where it seemed like Kaep would get a chance. In 2019, the NFL called up Kaepernick’s agent, saying they had two hours to accept the chance to work out in front of all 32 teams in Atlanta.

Of course, Kaepernick seized the chance. He couldn’t let his one shot go. It had been years since any activity surrounding his name, and maybe it was finally time.

However, there was more to this tryout than meets the eye. At the time, Kaepernick’s agent Jeff Nalley felt like something was suspicious.

“Something didn’t smell right”

The NFL and Kaepernick went back and forth about the details of the workout. The NFL sent many forms out with some snakey language, something Kaep’s team didn’t like. They even rejected them because of what they called an “unusual liability waiver” as a precondition.

Kaepernick was still ready though.

“I’ve been prepared for three years, I’ve been denied for three years and you all know why. I’ve been ready. I’m staying ready.”

Despite flashing elite arm talent and precision with the ball, Kaepernick never received a call from any team after. If this didn’t show that Kaepernick’s time with the NFL was up, then nothing could. His kneeling never left the minds of owners, and it’s sad to see that he still doesn’t have a job as an NFL player despite having the talent.
