Deion Sanders Finally Reveals Why He Won’t Coach NFL Teams; “These Guys Make So Much Money, They Can’t Hear, They Can’t See"

Deion Sanders is on a historic run with Colorado. Through his unit’s first two games, Sanders has displayed that the team is not the same anymore. His phenomenal coaching style has put him in the spotlight for an NFL job. However, he is loud and clear on why he doesn’t want to be an NFL coach.

While a coaching position in NFL might seem intriguing, Sanders is content with staying committed to college football. His work with the Colorado Buffaloes has truly established him as one of the biggest entities at the college level. Moreover, Deion feels his style of coaching makes more sense in college, and not in the NFL.

Deion Sanders is Content with His College Football Role

In a revelation on the Rich Eisen Show,’ Deion Sanders talked about his aversion to coaching in the NFL. Sanders, who himself is an NFL icon, emphasized his deep affection for college football. During an appearance on the show, the former defensive back shared, “I would never do that(Join NFL as a coach). I love college [because] young men are still impressionable.”

Sanders did point out a contrast between college and professional athletes. He is of the belief that young college players are more receptive to coaching because the enormous financial wealth doesn’t restrict their vision or hinder their willingness to learn. However, at the NFL level, there are athletes earning tens of millions of dollars which kind of restricts their vision. Sanders said,

“They’re(college athletes) not so financially wealthy that they can’t hear you. At the next level, some of these guys make so much money they can’t hear or see the things that they need to see. I would have a hard time motivating a man who makes upwards of 20, 30, and sometimes 40 million dollars. I got a problem with that.”

The Colorado HC even joked about making swift decisions. He said, “I would start with 53 and come out of the locker room at halftime with about 38.” Whether you like Sanders or not, one thing is certain – Coach Prime gets results. There would be many teams in the NFL itching to offer him the HC’s position.

Coach Prime Has Started Off Brilliantly in Colorado

Coach Prime has truly established his presence in college football. Back in December last year, his Colorado appointment raised eyebrows due to his fame and rapid overhaul of a struggling team. However, Sanders took the job opportunity with both hands and has literally defied expectations in his first two games. He took charge of a 1–11 team in his debut year after leaving Jackson State and made it undergo a rebuild.

Talking to Rich Eisen about the team and how’s everything going on at the Buffs, there was one thing that Sanders pointed out with pride. He said, “The thing that I’m most proud of is that during all the comings and goings, when they talk about how many we got rid of, how many came in, we achieved the highest GPA in school history for the football team.”

By tasting victory in their first game against last year’s championship finalists TCU and then dominating Nebraska in their second, Deion has truly announced himself at Colorado. It wouldn’t come as a massive surprise if Colorado Boulder made the move from PAC-12 to BIG-12 next year.
