Despite Registering Aaron Rodgers' 2021 Season-Like Numbers, Dak Prescott isn't the Fan Favorite to Win MVP

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys have had a great season so far and they are entering Week 14 as an undefeated team in their last four games. In fact, Dak’s numbers after 12 games into the season aren’t very different from what Aaron Rodgers registered in 11 games back in 2021.

Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was voted as the Most Valuable Player in 2021 for his record-breaking performances. Prescott is on the same path, however, for the fans Dak is still not the favorite to win MVP this season as he hasn’t beaten many great teams and has slayed minnows.

An Instagram page called “jukes” recently compared Aaron Rodgers’ 2021 stats to Dak Prescott‘s current season figures. Rodgers, after 11 games, boasted a 9-2 record with 2954 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Interestingly, Prescott closely mirrors these numbers in his ongoing season, throwing for 3408 yards, scoring 28 touchdowns, tallying 6 interceptions, and maintaining a 9-3 record.

Yet, the fans remained unconvinced, expressing their opinion in the post’s comment section.

A fan commented, “difference is GB played real teams. stop trying to hype up dak when the teams he lost against were below average teams and struggled against good teams”

Another one stated, “Did he beat a team above .500?”

A user stated, “okay, but the difference here is AR did this against challenging defenses and not wiping the floor with the bottom 5 times”

Fans are doubtful and stated that Dak’s victories did not come against top-tier teams, and they questioned if he has defeated squads above .500. They argue that Aaron Rodgers faced tougher defenses in that season and he was an MVP-worthy performance.

However, on Sunday, the Cowboys are gearing up to face their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, once again. The Eagles defeated the Cowboys in Week 9 and currently stand at 10-2. It is one of the most awaited games and if the Cowboys win, then the fan’s perspective will definitely change.

Are the Cowboys Strong Super Bowl Contenders?

While Prescott’s MVP debate continues to be on the trend, many analyst has spoken in favor of the Cowboys QB. Several pundits including Colin Cowherd believe Dak and the Cowboys are looking set for a Super Bowl run. Cowherd stated that the Cowboys are a different team this season and also included the Cowboys in his list of favorite Super Bowl contenders for this season.

Colin Cowherd thinks Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are playing the best football right now. He compared the Cowboys to two past Super Bowl teams, the 2015 Carolina Panthers led by Cam Newton and the 2016 Atlanta Falcons with Matt Ryan, both with star quarterbacks. He believes the Cowboys could go far in the playoffs, just like those teams did.
