Dak Prescott was one of the most talked about quarterbacks ahead of the 2016 draft. After breaking innumerable records in his college days, Prescott went to the Dallas Cowboys and took no time to get going.

Named the offensive rookie of the year in 2016 for leading the Cowboys to the top of the NFC table, the 6 ft 2 in tall quarterback quickly became a massive entity in the NFL world. While he has been showing glimpses of his class ever since, Dak has had issues with consistency over the years.
Jerry Jones’ Tom Brady-Dak Prescott comparison is attracting a lot of backlash
Prescott’s regular season numbers have been good, not incredible but still quite good. However, the superstar quarterback, who was given a whopping $160 million 4-year extension in 2021, hasn’t been able to do well in the playoffs. The Cowboys have consistently failed to perform in the postseason since Dak’s arrival which has forced the fans to give them the tag of ‘chokers’.
However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones still seems to have a lot of faith in Dak. Known for being stubborn, Jerry has consistently backed Dak despite the fact that he has missed quite a few games due to recurring injuries and has been rather poor in crunch games.
Recently, Jerry was at the scouting combine in Indianapolis where he had a long chat with the reporters. During the interaction, when he was asked about Dak, Jerry claimed, “I don’t want to dare do this to Dak or me or anybody, but I think just as Brady became, in my mind, better and better and more impactful in how they won as he got into his career, I think Dak really has those qualities. I think he can get better.”
Dak has failed to guide his team to a single Super Bowl since his arrival, while Brady recently retired after 7 titles to his name. So as one can expect, Jerry’s comparison angered NFL fans who lashed out at the 80-year-old owner for being delusional.

Just as a baby grows and matures to something completely useless, so has Dak

Jerry Jones highlights the importance of unearthing young talent
During his recent 90-minute chat with reporters at Indianapolis, Jerry also reflected on the fact that in every team, about two-thirds of the total funds are spent on just 10-11 star players. So it becomes absolutely crucial to unearth youngsters who can do the job for the team.
Jerry stated that instead of just focussing on the first or second round picks, his team needs to carefully select players who can effectively play the assigned role. “You’ve got to have young, talented players. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the first- or second-round picks, but they’re players that can execute, that can play the role, but you’ve got to plan on playing them,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys fare in the coming season.
