Eagles Fans Up in Arms After Reports Suggest Roger Goodell Wants to Ban Brotherly Shove: “If the Chiefs Invented This Play We Wouldn’t Hear a Peep”

The Philadelphia Eagles have established their command with the best record of the season in the NFL. Their signature move ‘Brotherly Shove’, generally referred to as the Tush Push has been a dominant play. However, it seems that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is contemplating a permanent ban on this Eagles signature move. According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini, the play will be debated/voted on this offseason.

The Eagles have established themselves as a formidable force. Their record is one of the highest in the NFL this season and any blow to the signature style might seem to be a blow to their stature as well. This coupled with the lack of representation has raised the concerns of the Eagles.

According to the reports, there are no Eagles representatives on the competition committee. The Cowboys, Giants, & Commanders, however, are all represented. While it is expected to go up for a vote, it seems that the NFL Commissioner wants it to be banned permanently.

Fans Want Roger Goodell to be Removed as Commissioner

What caught the nerves of the Eagles was their lack of representation on the competition committee. The Philly fans are extremely passionate, much the like team itself. As the shocking news was shared by the Eagles’ fan account, they couldn’t keep themselves from expressing disbelief. They fired shots at Roger Goodell, from asking him to step down as commissioner, to pointing out the hypocrisy of the situation.

One such fan took a shot at Chiefs, for their beloved image in the NFL.

Another fan compared this to the gameplay adopted by Tom Brady in the comments.

Some others fired shots at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, talking about his removal.

The Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders shall have a say in the matter. This is another sticking point for the Eagles, as these teams are their biggest divisional rivals, however, they trail above all the teams in their season records.

The rugby-style move is widely used by the teams in their gameplay. However, the Eagles are reported to use it more often and successfully. Nick Sirianni, the Eagles HC has opposed the ban with a simple yet effective argument: it is used by 32 teams in the NFL and has been able to promise various degrees of success per CBS.

Again, this is another step that was used by Jalen Hurts to take a 1-yard sneak against the Buffalo Bills. The situation is still at a discussion stage with all speculations flowing. However, the lack of representation for Philly appears to be a hindrance for one of the most formidable forces in the NFL.
