Emmanuel Acho Backed Patrick Mahomes to Achieve Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter-Type Success, Even Before Super Bowl LVII Win

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback, started in the NFL just 6 years ago. In a very short period of time, Mahomes has started drawing comparisons to the likes of Tom Brady, Derek Jeter & Michael Jordan. In fact, NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho had included Mahomes in the conversation about ‘all time greats’, even before the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII.

With two Super Bowl rings and two MVP awards at 27, Mahomes has already made big strides on the NFL stage. Moreover, Acho believes that Mahomes’ continued success and longevity in the league will eventually lead to him occupying a place among the greatest athletes of all time. .

Emmanuel Acho Forsees Patrick Mahomes at GOAT Level

In a segment of SPEAK five months ago, Emmanuel Acho expressed his admiration for Patrick Mahomes and boldly declared that Mahomes deserves to be included in discussions about the greatest athletes of all time. During the episode, Acho referred to Mahomes’ performance as “history being made”. The analyst continued while comparing Mahomes’ success stats to other greats like Jordan and Brady. With three Super Bowl appearances in just five years as a starter, Mahomes has a staggering success rate at the greatest possible level.

“Patrick Mahomes now needs to enter the conversation of greatest athletes ever. We’re putting him in conversations of greatest quarterbacks ever and that is great he obviously is in that conversation but when you start to think about people like Derek Jeter, who went to, I believe seven World Series in 20 years. When you think about guys like Tom Brady who obviously has gone to seven in his 23 years. When you think about Michael Jordan who went to six in 13 years, if you count the Wizards years six in 15 years,” Acho said.

The significance of Acho’s statements has only grown since the recording of the segment. As shortly after his praise, Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to another Super Bowl victory against Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles.

Present-Day Patrick Mahomes is the Michael Jordan of the 1980s

Mike Florio, while comparing Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes on an episode of NFL on NBC a few months back, made a thought-provoking comparison between Mahomes’ innovative approach to the game and Michael Jordan’s impact on basketball in the 1980s. He stated, “He’s playing the quarterback position as well as anyone ever has within the strict boundaries of what we expect quarterbacks to do. Mahomes has defied the things that we expect quarterbacks to do.”

Further drawing a parallel between Mahomes and Jordan, Florio explained, “He has revolutionized the quarterback position the way Michael Jordan revolutionized basketball, unlocking a new universe of things you can do with your body.” Florio encouraged young aspiring athletes to observe Mahomes’ style and strive to emulate his innovative approach, just as kids in the 80s watched Michael Jordan and attempted to replicate his groundbreaking moves.

Patrick Mahomes still has his whole career ahead of him. We can’t say that for many athletes who have already made their way to the Super Bowl 3 times in their careers. If he continues to maintain his exceptional performances in the coming years, who knows, mighty Mahomes might even surpass Tom Brady.
