"You Can't Hit Nobody": Shannon Sharpe, Chad Johnson Blame 'Anti-Defense' Rules for Major Dip in Scoring

Nightcap is the creation of Volume Sports where 3-time Super Bowl-winning TE Shannon Sharpe and Bengal Ring of Honour and 6-time Pro Bowler Chad Ochocinco Johnson give their wild and unfiltered takes on the latest headlines in pro and college football. As they often do, the two legends sat down for an especially interesting interaction on the podcast.

The talk turned to their Madden ratings and the results were meme-worthy. As they both were talking about their Madden ratings from back in the day, former TE Shannon Sharpe revealed that he once had a 100 Madden rating. And Chad Ochocinco’s reaction was something to savor for the audience.

Shannon Sharpe Wants Platinum Shoes for His Madden 100 Rating

Chad couldn’t believe his ears when he heard that Shannon Sharpe once got a 100 rating on EA Sports Madden. Ocho sporting Madden merchandise on the latest episode of the Nightcap, reveals when asked by Sharpe that he had a 98 rating on Madden. He says people don’t remember how good he was in his prime. Chad said,

“I was that boy back in the day. I don’t people understand how great I was because of the antics and fun I had, it takes away all the hard work I put in. Even the highest analyst don’t understand that and focus on all my entertainment and antics.”

But the wildest reaction was given by Ocho when Sharpe proudly revealed that he had been one of the few guys with a 100 rating. Not to be outdone, Sharpe exclaimed,

“I was one of the few guys who ever got a hundo…A hundred’s gotta be a platinum (shoes). Gold is for 99, I need platinum shoes.”

Sharpe reveals he was one of those guys with a platinum rating. He was also one of the first TEs to get a 99 rating before other legendary TEs like Gronk and Kelce. Turns out Sharpe did in fact receive the 100 rating in 1999, along with Berry Sanders, and Deion Sander. ’99 was a good year for Madden ratings as it saw a record number of players make it into the coveted Madden 99 club, with 6 players getting a 100 rating. No one has gotten a 100 rating since 2000, a year after Sharpe’s induction as a 100.

Ocho and Unc feel Kelce Should Invite Taylor to Every Game

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romantic saga has been dominating headlines. Kelce has played in 4 games with Taylor in attendance. It looks like her presence has a positive effect on Kelce’s performance on the field. The difference is so much that Ocho and Sharpe think he should invite Swift to every Chiefs game.

While discussing this on the Nightcap, Sharpe reveals the difference in numbers and says-

“In 4 games Taylor has attended, Kelce is averaging 108 yards receiving per game. In games she hasn’t attended, he averaged less than 47. If I am Travis Kelce, I am saying she is coming to the game.”

Ocho says she’s got to come to every home game and Sharpe says Kelce should be paying for her expenses and asks her to come to every game. Taylor Swift was again present in the stands at Arrowhead with Brittany Mahomes for Chiefs win over the Chargers. Kelce had the best game of the season with 12 receptions for 179 yards with 1 TD.
