Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce couldn’t contain his excitement after defeating teammate Patrick Mahomes in a game of golf. In an interview with NBC, Kelce proudly bragged about his victory over Mahomes in the first round of the 2023 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship.

However, Kelce believes that Mahomes was struggling on the course which made things easier for him. Despite their close friendship, the star Tight End enjoyed the opportunity to best Patrick Mahomes in a different setting.
Travis Kelce Celebrated Triumph Over Patrick Mahomes in Golf
In an exclusive interview with NBC’s McKenzie Nelson, Travis Kelce didn’t hold back his excitement after defeating his QB Patrick in round one of the American Century Championship. “I did beat Patrick Lavon Mahomes II for the first time in my entire life” Kelce said.
Travis continued, “I was trying to stay in the red numbers, which means I’m doing better than I have ever done. And sure enough I go into the last hole in the red numbers and double-bogey and I’m in the black numbers”. Going into round one, Kelce’s play was characterized by consistent play and solid scoring. He carded a total of 87 strokes. He achieved a score of 42 on the back nine. On the other hand, Patrick Mahomes struggled to find his rhythm on the golf course. He finished with a total score of 89.

Although, Mahomes did have some bright moments, including a score of 44 on the back nine but his overall performance eventually fell short compared to Kelce. After Round 1, Kelce was on T57 compared to T65 of Mahomes.
Kelce Left Impressed by Canelo Alvarez
After securing a victory over his teammate Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce didn’t miss the chance to commend boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez who was also a part of the event. “Canelo is awesome. He’s such an unbelievable athlete. To be able to do what he does in the ring and then come out here and be smooth as can be, hit a bunch of unbelievable golf shots,” Kelce said.
“I have so much respect for who he is as a person and who he is as an athlete, so it was fun playing Canelo. At the same time, he hit a few good shots, but he wasn’t himself today,” he added. Looking at all this, it would be safe to say that, Kelce, Canelo and even Mahomes, are making the most of their time at the ACC.
