Azeez Ojulari Stats At Georgia: Is Azeez Ojulari The Best Edge Rusher In The 2021 NFL Draft?
After stepping into bigger role in his second year at college, Ojulari showed everyone why he’s a top defender. In 2019, Ojulari would record 33 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and a forced fumble in 11 games for the Georgia Bulldogs.
He was poised for a breakout year in 2020, and that’s exactly what happened. Azeez took over the starting role and had a massive 2020 campaign. He recorded 31 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two pass deflections in just 10 games.
His accomplishments led him to being named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, and he also made second-team-All-SEC selection.
Clearly, there’s a lot of talent in Azeez’s game, but does that make him the best in this year’s draft? There are a lot of top prospects at the Outside Linebacker position, and it may be difficult to qualify Azeez as the best.
For example, Jaelan Phillips from Miami and Kwity Paye from Michigan are two names that immediately stand out. As of now, we definitely know that Ojulari is a top 5 prospect at the EDGE position, but it’s hard to rank him at number 1.
However, with his mentality and confidence, he may work himself up to to be the number 1 edge rusher from this draft class when we look back on it.
Where Will Azeez Ojulari Be Drafted? Which NFL Team Should Draft Azeez Ojulari?
The EDGE position is one of the most important defensive positions in the game right now, and there are a lot of teams that will be vying for Ojulari’s services.
The New York Giants sitting at the 11th pick could be one option for the talented young linebacker. Additionally, after losing pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney in free agency this year, the Tennessee Titans could be looking to re-up at the position. Ojulari would be a perfect fit.
Additionally, the Baltimore Ravens also stand out as perfect fits as they lost Matthew Judon.
