“Fields Is Done”: Fans React After Chicago Bears' New QB Move Creates Suspicion On Justin Fields’ Future

Justin Fields and the Bears have finally ended their 14-game losing streak that included an embarrassing start to the season. Although it looked bad for the quarterback, Cam Newton believes that it was majorly due to the coaching that was complicating the game for him.

In his appearance at the RG3 and The Ones’ Podcast with Robert Griffin III, 2011’s first overall selection Cam Newton gave his honest thoughts on the Bears situation. He believed that Justin Fields had the potential to win games. However, his talent and potential are being bottled up by the Bears’ complicated coaching techniques.

Cam Newton Comments on Justin Fields and His Complexities

During his appearance on the podcast with Robert Griffin III, former NFL QB Cam Newton shared his candid thoughts. In a reel uploaded by RG3 and the Ones via Instagram, Newton observed that Justin Fields seemed to be overthinking on the field which he believed stemmed from the approach of the coaching staff. Furthermore, he tries to implement an array of instructions which eventually hinders his performance.

“Justin Fields, when I see Justin play, you’re telling me he can’t play this game at a high level? I’m seeing a guy who’s thinking too much. The issue is when I see Justin Fields, it’s like you have a coach that’s trying to coach him like a complex guy,” explained Newton.

He illustrates his point by drawing a comparison with Lamar Jackson. Newton pointed out that he initially faced skepticism from the league. However, the doubts were soon converted into a suitable playing style. The Baltimore Ravens QB led to cement the fact that football is a simple game.

“Cause when you look at Lamar Jackson who I think has figured out his style of play, when the last 2022, 2021 he first came into the game, they’re like ‘oh he’s not gonna work’. But they understood the tone and the language to let him play. Football is that simple. They’re making football too complicated,” said Cam Newton.

Newton’s remarks paint a vivid picture of how Fields can improve his game. He believes that the QB has the potential to lead the Chicago Bears to a better place.

Chicago Bears QB Hints at a Difficult Coaching Situation

After the Chicago Bears took a step away from their struggles, Justin Fields has come under the spotlight. On the contrary, their rocky way up to the victory had even Fields himself hint at the coaching issue. He suggested that the coaching guidance might not translate effectively due to its complexity.

“You know, could be coaching, I think. At the end of the day, they are doing their job when they are giving me what to look at, but at the end of the day, I can’t be thinking about that when the game comes,” he said.

The Bears’ QB also clarified that it wasn’t meant to be directed at any particular coach, emphasizing a broader concern. His performance has raised many questions but the days are behind him as the Bears attain a much-awaited victory.
