‘Inconsolable’ Josh Allen, Years After Getting Snubbed by a Baseball Star, Gave Two Little Boys a Gift of a Lifetime

Josh Allen, star quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, has become a very well-liked figure in the world of football. As it turns out, his urge to perfectly play the role of the ‘franchise quarterback’ actually stemmed from a negative experience he had as a kid with a San Francisco Giants player.

When the Wyoming product was growing up in California, he went to a San Francisco Giants game with his family. Josh and his folks waited around after the game in the hopes of trying to meet some of the players. It was then that he had a terrible experience.

As per Rochester First, Allen shared that he and ten other kids waited in the tunnel and were hoping to meet their heroes, as they had a really good game. While his parents requested him to leave because they thought the unnamed player wouldn’t come out, they were proved wrong.

The player did come out but didn’t give any attention to the kids who were waiting for him. That was when the heartbroken kid decided that he would not root for that baseball star and would always acknowledge every kid that looked up to him. Therefore, in order to not turn out like the Giants player who robbed him of his happiness, Allen turned into the guy who gives every ounce of attention to children.

Josh has shared on multiple occasions that he has always been the last player in training camp to head into the locker room. That is because he makes sure to high-five and sign memorabilia for kids because he knows how much of an impact just a small amount of attention can have.

Hence, when twin boys Jamie and Christian Bell went to watch their favorite QB in action, he surprised them with his appearance. As per Hope Rises‘ report, the boys went through a difficult time as they lost their father in a car accident. The mother of the Bell boys said that Allen had donated ten tickets to their family and also met them after his game at One Bills Drive.

Allen hugged the boys tightly and signed everyone’s jersey, including their dad’s. This gift was something the boys would cherish and remember forever.

Josh Allen wants to keep giving back to the community

It is not surprising that the athlete who cares deeply about children’s happiness is heavily involved in charitable activities with Oishei Children’s Hospital. Allen believes anyone who is capable of helping others should definitely do so. The earnings generated from the sale of ‘Josh’s Jaqs’ cereal are donated to the hospital, which holds a special place in Allen’s heart as his brother had been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease in his childhood. Allen can relate to the struggles faced by families dealing with health issues.

“These children are given the short end of the stick and the situations are gut-wrenching. Just knowing that me saying hello, me showing up and giving them a little Bills goodie-bag or whatever the case may be. What that can do for them, how it can lift their spirits up in their time of need. It’s something near and dear to my heart,” Allen had claimed. “It breaks my heart every time I go there because you see some things that you don’t wish upon anybody.”

Additionally, before his second NFL season, Allen committed to donating $200 for each touchdown he scored. Hence, it would be fair to say that Josh turned a bitter memory around and channeled it in the most positive way possible.
