“Justin Fields appears to the real deal”: Bears Rookie Looks Unstoppable In Joint Practices Ahead Of First NFL Preseason Game

Justin Fields

Justin Fields may be more hyped up than rookies taken earlier like Trevor Lawrence and Trey Lance solely because of how long Chicago has gone without a good quarterback.

Today, Fields will likely see his first NFL action as the Bears suit for their first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Andy Dalton is the likely starter for now, but that means that Fields will probably end up getting more playing time in preseason.

Fields has had an impressive training camp so far with both coaches and players being high on his prospect as an NFL player. However, Matt Nagy has reiterated multiple times that Dalton is likely going to be the starter come NFL week one.

Justin Fields Has Been Turning Heads During Bears Dolphins Joint Practices Ahead Of NFL Preseason Game

Ahead of their preseason matchup, the Bears and Dolphins had a couple joint practice sessions with each other. Fields got a lot of opportunities to showcase his skills, and he didn’t miss the chance.

He especially showed off his skills during goal line scenarios where he appeared to be nearly perfect. You can check out some of his highlights for yourself.

Fields also had a great dime to tight end Jimmy Graham over the top, showing his soft touch with the ball and perfect accuracy:

Fields even had the Miami Dolphins reporters impressed who claimed he was the real deal. After performing incredibly well in college, people had Fields being the number two or number three quarterback taken. However, he fell all the way to the fourth pick when the Bears were lucky enough to scoop him after trading up.

Now, he’ll look to carry over that success to the NFL. Fields is definitely the long-term answer for quarterback for the Chicago Bears as they didn’t sign Andy Dalton to be their leader for a long time. He’s meant to be a mentor for Fields.

Today’s preseason game will be vital for Fields. If he shows up and plays well, he could see himself starting sooner rather than later for Chicago.
