Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray may have turned from the NFL and have his sights on joining Chris Paul and Devin Booker after Tweeting a basketball workout video.

Murray Tweeted a video in which he flashed his potential to be a star in the NBA. Specifically, he was looking at the Phoenix Suns who also play in Arizona like his Cardinals.

Could Murray be looking to team up with Chris Paul and Devin Booker as the Suns gear up for a playoff run? We never know, but Murray is certainly waiting for that call. Here’s the Tweet he sent out himself, calling out the Phoenix Suns:

Which Sports Does Kyler Murray Play? Which MLB Team Drafted Kyler Murray?

As we all know, Murray was a talented dual-sport athlete coming out of college. While we know him to be the stud quarterback he is right now, Murray could have definitely been a professional baseball player as well.

At Oklahoma, Murray would split time between the Gridiron and the diamond in both his years at school. It was his second year, in 2018, in particular that blew away MLB scouts.

He posted a .296 batting average, scored 10 home runs and also posted 10 stolen bases. Murray was everything you could look for in a baseball prospect coming out of college.

His talent led to the Oakland Athletics selecting him with the 9th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. However, the Athletics had their work cut out for them. Murray was still choosing between football and baseball at the time, and they knew they’d have to appease Murray in order to convince him to take the baseball route.

Thus, Murray would play out his final season with Oklahoma as the quarterback en-route to a Heisman trophy. It wasn’t enough, however. Murray would be drafted with the number one overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he hasn’t looked away from football ever since.

Why Did Kyler Murray Choose Football Over Baseball?

Money, money, money. At least, that’s what we’re guessing. Quarterbacks are the highest paid position players in the NFL, and there’s a chance for Murray to earn much more with the Cardinals than the Athletics.

Additionally, being the number one overall pick qualifies Murray for $35 million. However, there’s also the opportunity that Murray would have received.

Murray was basically guaranteed to be the Cardinals’ starter as they selected him first overall, but it wouldn’t have been so easy with Oakland. Murray would have to play in the Minor Leagues, and there’s a chance he could still be playing there, instead of being a star quarterback in the NFL.

Thus, Murray’s choice becomes much clearer. Of course, had he shown off his talented basketball skills before, there’s a chance that Murray could have chose to make even more money by joining an NBA team. Jokes aside, Murray’s video shows us how so many NFL players are multi-talented athletes.

While football may be their primary focus, they always seem to have a knack for at least one other major sport. We’ve already seen Myles Garrett and DK Metcalf impress us with their basketball skills and now we’ve also seen Murray. Which NFL athlete is going to wow us next?
