Michael Jordan is the most competitive athlete known in American sports, and for that reason, Patrick Mahomes believes that comparisons to him are just unfair.

Mahomes has done a great number of things in his career already, climbing mountains in his first 5 full years as a starter that people don’t get to across their whole career.
Entering his 75th career start on Sunday, he’s rewritten the record books. He has the most wins of any quarterback through their first 75 starts, the most passing yards, and the most passing touchdowns.
More than anything, Mahomes is a winner. He’s taken the Chiefs to the Super Bowl twice already, and with the way his team is playing this year, there’s a genuine shot that number becomes three. Of course, he’s also won the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP award.
His list of accomplishments goes on and on, however, the young gun isn’t ready to put himself on the same pedestal as Michael Jordan.

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t see himself on the same level as Michael Jordan
In a deep dive into Mahomes and the Chiefs, the New Heights podcast gave us some great insight into the career Mahomes has had, going all the way back to his draft days.
Mahomes has been compared to many athletes so far, including some NBA stars. Two names that often come up are Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan.
When asked about MJ, Mahomes was very humble in his reply. He knows that the NBA GOAT was on a different level when it came to his competitive spirit, and even though Mahomes tries to match that intensity, he knows there’s definitely a gap at the top level.
“Michael Jordan I feel like I don’t even have that competitor that he had man. After watching the last dance and seeing
that I feel like I try to be that but that’s one of a kind I mean to be that competitive, and at all times like if I shook his hand he’d be like I can shake my hand tighter then you can shake your hand. I mean that’s just the type of guy he is.”
Mahomes might one day match Michael Jordan if he continues at this pace though. Sure, he may never be as competitive as the former Bull, but he could have a career just as successful. He’s definitely shown he’s more than capable.
