Whenever one thinks of NFL players, the most common image is of a young athlete who is more or less arrogant and round. However, that image is slowly shifting, and players are increasingly becoming more humble and down to earth. One player who embodies these qualities is Philadelphia Eagles’ $255,000,000 man Jalen Hurts, who is one of the best QBs in the NFL right now, though he doesn’t necessarily let it show.

Hurts led his team to the Super Bowl last season, where they squared off against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Though they ended up losing by a small margin, Jalen was absolutely exceptional in the finale, a testament to his skills and his teams’ resilience. Moreover, through the years, Hurts has been anything but humble, and has acknowledged the entire team’s contribution in his success.
Jalen Hurts says he pays no heed to other’s opinions about how he plays
Way back when the Eagles defeated division rivals New York Giants to secure a playoff spot, Hurts revealed the mentality that keeps him going. During the post-game press conference, he said, “I carry my scars with me everywhere I go. I don’t forget. Do I waste my energy worrying about the opinion of someone else? The opinion of a sheep? No… Everybody and their opinion, opinions don’t deposit at the bank.”

Hurts went on to talk about how all he tries to do is stay true to himself and his teammates. For him, all that mattered was growing with his team, and his energy was focused on chasing that growth. While many would have thought his words were too cliche and not very real, he backed his words up by taking his team to the Super Bowl.
Though he lost, Jalen certainly etched his name into the history books of the NFL. In fact, the Eagles were also quick to realize how big an asset Jalen is, which is why they recently ended up giving him a massive extension deal, which had made him the highest annual earner in NFL for a few days.
Eagles reaffirmed their faith in Hurts by giving him a massive contract
Whether or not everyone else thought of Hurts‘ performance last season, the Eagles were certainly impressed. Which is why they gave him an enormous 5-year $255 Million deal. However, Jalen was quickly overthrown by Ravens’ Lamar Jackson from the top spot on the list of highest earning NFL stars. Just days after Hurts’ deal, Baltimore gave Lamar a $260 Million 5-year deal, which brought his average annual salary to $52 Million, a Million more than that of Hurts.
This season is yet another opportunity for the Eagles to show what they are capable of. Hurts and the team will be looking to make an easy journey to the playoffs, and hopefully make it back to the Super Bowl. Interestingly, the Ravens are also touted as one of the favorites this year, as Lamar now looks to be a happy man and is ready to fire at all cylinders. Will the two highest earners square off in the finale this season?
