While the Dallas Cowboys are having a good night today, Brett Maher will not necessarily be in those ranks. His contribution in the Cowboys’ charge for victory today is nil. Not because he hasn’t got any opportunities to score, no. Rather, he had 4 different chances today, to score 4 PATs. Yet, he missed all four of them. Even if he doesn’t come away with a point this game, he can be sure that he will come away with probably the most annoying record.

Apparently, there are only nine other kickers in the history of the NFL who’ve missed three PAT attempts in a game. Brett Maher joins this elite club, by becoming the only kicker to miss 4. He also has the unique distinction of missing 5 PAT attempts in a row, having missed his sole kick from the Week 18 game against the Washington Commanders. Luckily for him, his misses don’t seem likely to come back and haunt him.
The Cowboys are 24-0 in the third quarter, and things are looking to be in their favor. Unless the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Tom Brady pull out a miracle card, there doesn’t seem to be a way the Cowboys will lose this game. A win here would mean the Cowboys end their streak of 7 consecutive losses against Tom Brady. It will also be a great way to jump into the divisional playoffs.
Fans shocked at Brett Maher missing 4 PAT attempts
Fans and analysts alike cannot believe their eyes that Mahre missed 4 attempts at scoring an extra point. For many, converting a PAT attempt should be something all kickers are good at. The occasional mistake can be understandable, but not 4 in a row. Fans on Twitter are already airing their opinions about the entire situation. While some sympathize with the Dallas kicker, others just straight up think he’s bad.
Like to see you try this during playoffs. Give him a break. Come back at me about how much he makes $ etc. My point is, I think he is trying his best and something is wrong. #polyanna

Amazing that there aren't 32 humans on the planet that can consistently make kicks. Mind blowing

These are the best of the best, best of the best doesn’t mean perfect. No two kicks are going to be the exact same you’re not going to make every single one no matter who you are or how good at kicking you are

Of course, Barstool’s initial Tweet’s text was a copy paste from a joke propagated by gaming legend Ninja a long time ago. However, it seems to fit this situation perfectly. While it may have started as a joke, trolling Maher, some unaware fans took the opportunity to trash all kickers. Safe to say, Maher will not be receiving a hero’s welcome tonight.
If the Cowboys win tonight, they will go on to face the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional playoffs round. Just a year after their wildcard loss to the 49ers, the Cowboys will have another chance to set things right. However, they will not be looking to take their performance against the struggling Bucs as a benchmark. Rather, they should not, if they want to have any hopes of winning against the 49ers.
This wildcard game seems to be set in stone, for now. Will the Cowboys ride out the remaining time for a win? Or will Brady become the clutch player he’s always been, and pull out an upset win tonight? Maybe he needs a few roughing the passer calls to help him.
