Peyton Manning and his latest entertainment venture in the form of thrilling Netflix docuseries, ‘Quarterback’ has had football fans buzzing with excitement this offseason. However, it seems the show is facing a tough challenge as star quarterbacks are hesitant to join the project. Despite the success of the first season, Peyton Manning is encountering difficulties in recruiting top-tier QBs for the upcoming second season. This comes as no surprise since Manning himself admitted on ‘The Pat McAfee Show‘ that convincing players to participate was no easy task. Moreover, recently, the makers of the show faced another setback when Ravens star Lamar also joined the list of QBs who aren’t interested to take part in the second season of the show.
Focus on the Game: Lamar Jackson Talks Priorities Amid Show Offer
Lamar Jackson, as reported by Dov Kleiman, has joined the list of stars who have declined to document their journeys for season 2. Lamar, in an interview, per BaltimoreRavens.com, talked about his priorities saying, “I appreciate them, but I’m just trying to focus on the ball right now.”
“I’m trying to focus on the ball,” Jackson reiterated, suggesting that the constant presence of cameras around him might take his attention away from his ultimate goal. With this, Jackson joined the likes of Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Dak Prescott, and Matthew Stafford, who also chose to stay out of the show even after a successful first season.

There are an array of reasons for quarterbacks not wanting to be a part of the Netflix follow-up season of ‘Quarterback’. While Lamar Jackson cited his dedication to the game as the primary reason for backing out of the Netflix show, Tua Tagovailoa cited a different reason for turning down the opportunity to join the show.
Challenges in Recruiting: ‘Quarterback’ Faces Obstacles for Season 2
Tua Tagovailoa declined the offer for season 2, expressing concerns that the show might divulge too much about his personal and private life. According to reports from Mirror, Jalen Hurts might have been interested in participating, but the timing isn’t suitable for him at the moment. “There’s a lot of the journey to be told and a lot to unfold that will be told one day. That time will come,” said Hurts.
On the other hand, per Chris Renkel of Local 12, while refusing to join the show, Joe Burrow said, “If you guys know anything about me. Media isn’t my favorite thing to do.” Moreover, Justin Field also said no to the show saying, “Just having cameras around the building, I think that might change the vibe of everyone,” he said via Shaw Local News Network. “I just want to keep it natural and organic and really just focus on what’s going on in the building,” he added.
For all the @NFL QBs that are passing on @netflix show Quarterback to “focus on football”… you do realize @PatrickMahomes was on the show WHILE winning a Super Bowl, building a house, having a baby, and dealing with his brother. Just simply say that you don’t want to do it.…

The show is facing challenges in recruiting the next set of players. However, it’s beyond doubt that the fans are eagerly awaiting the second season. This comes with the hope that it will match the success of the first one. It will be interesting to see who ultimately joins the show for the second season. However, looking at all the refusals, it would be fair to say that Peyton Manning sure has his work cut out.
