Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is the newest hot product to hit the market. The 31-year-old has been on a visiting spree, meeting with the Titans and completing a full workout with the Patriots. Many, including his longtime friend Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, believed that Hopkins would not leave New England without a formal offer from the team. However, that is far from what happened.

In a deal that was many termed as daylight robbery, the Cardinals acquired Hopkins from the Texans back in 2020. After almost 3 years, the Cardinals have decided to part ways with the veteran receiver. His latest visit to New England, followed by his participation in a full workout, prompted many to think the Patriots would go all the way. However, it seems New England may be taking things a bit more cautiously.
‘PacMan’ Jones was confident about DeAndre Hopkins getting a deal
DeAndre Hopkins and Adam ‘PacMan’ Jones have been close friends for quite a while. This is why when Pacman went on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ and said Hopkins was going to get a deal from the Patriots, everyone believed him. Pacman said, “I like this Patriots thing. This is just me, personally. I don’t think he leaves there without a deal. …I think it can get done.”
However, Hopkins left the facility a while ago, and the Patriots have yet to present a contract for the veteran to sign. This has come as a surprise for many, especially after it was revealed that Hopkins underwent a full workout program with the New England outfit. Fortunately for him, the Titans have decided to make an offer for his services. Though, the details of this one are still unknown.
Hopkins is not looking for a contract of pity, though. According to Sports Illustrated, Hopkins is looking for a contract that pays him around $19.5 million. This was his supposed payout if he had been retained by the Cardinals for another season. The bigger shock, though, is that the Bills and the Chiefs have not yet stirred at the prospect of signing an experienced receiver to their roster.
The Patriots, though, may not need to rush things. So far, only the Titans have made an offer, which gives the Patriots some time to get their act together. According to CBS Sports, the Patriots only have around $14 million left in their salary cap. Which could mean that they have to sort out their money problems before presenting an offer to Hopkins.
Hopkins has good stats backing his value in the market
DeAndre Hopkins is undoubtedly a good receiver. His stats over the last 10 years more than back his talent and his skills. In almost 145 games played, he has a total of 853 receptions for 11,298 yards. With an average of 13.2 yards per reception, he has scored 71 touchdowns and has 594 receiving first downs.
If anything, the race for Hopkins should ideally start heating up. There are quite a few teams who will benefit from having the veteran. Especially those teams who are trying to play for a spot in the Super Bowl. However, most teams are already looking set with their rosters, which limits options for Hopkis. Where will this star receiver end up this season?
