“That Duck Peed on Me”: Deion Sanders Reveals Hilarious Encounter With the Aflac Mascot

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders watches his players warmup prior to the game between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Colorado Buffaloes at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Deion Sanders’ partnership with insurance provider Aflac Duck has become a fan favorite, especially for the fun, creative commercial they put together. They have also donated My Special Aflac Ducks to Children’s Hospital Colorado to help kids suffering from cancer and sickle cell disease — a gesture as noble as it gets.

Recently, the wholesome bar was raised even higher, with Sanders making a surprise visit to the insurer’s office and connecting with employees. But that visit wasn’t entirely smooth sailing, as he had a slightly frustrating moment — thanks to an unexpected culprit: the company’s mascot.

After exchanging pleasantries with the staff, the Colorado head coach addressed a room full of people—likely including media members, stakeholders, and happy customers—sharing his coaching journey and discussing the message he and Aflac Duck were promoting through their collaboration. It was the company’s three-year anniversary, making the occasion even more special. However, that moment was slightly ruined by the Aflac mascot, which hilariously ended up peeing on Sanders. Not while he was speaking, but during a shoot beforehand.

“I’m mad at that d*rn duck. I know it’s the anniversary, but the duck peed on me,” he said, sending the room full of people into a fit of laughter.

Previously, when Sanders shot a commercial or promo back in Colorado for Aflac, the leading provider of supplemental health insurance in the country, the duck they used was a fake one. But now, since Sanders was visiting the facilities in Columbus, Georgia, they had to bring in the real thing, which, unfortunately, backfired.

However, Sanders took it in stride, recounting the story to the audience in a hilarious manner. The only thing he was serious about, though, was sending the company a bill for a new suit.

“I’m sitting up there, taking autographs, smiling, and he pisses out on my whole fit… So, I will send you a bill for that suit. I don’t know how you get duck piss off a suit.”

Sanders initially teamed up with seven-time national champion Nick Saban to film a few commercials for Aflac Duck. It was a surreal experience for him, as he described feeling like a kid in the candy shop during the shoot.

Their first commercial, titled “NIL,” didn’t use the typical college sports abbreviation but instead stood for “Name, Injury, Likeness.” It aimed to educate fans and “close the gap” between where health insurance ends and medical bills begin, according to a press release from the insurer.

Sanders had also spent time not only with Saban but also with the duck mascot for another commercial, while fishing. However, after his recent revelation, it’s unclear if that duck was even real — or computer-generated.
