Patrick Mahomes isn’t just making plays for Kansas City on the field but also in the restaurant business as he’s set to bring Whataburger to Missouri.

Whataburger is a famous fast-food burger joint headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Having grown up in the Lone Star State, Mahomes felt like the one thing Missouri was missing was a piece from home.

During Mahomes’ debut season in the NFL in 2018, Whataburger reached out to the Kansas City star with this Tweet:

Patrick Mahomes responded to that, saying all he wanted was for Whataburger to open a chain where he plays in the NFL.

Now, about three years later, Mahomes is set to have his wish granted.

Patrick Mahomes Will Bring Whataburger To Missouri Along With 30 Other Chains

Mahomes’s whole life leading up to the NFL was based in Texas. He was born in Tyler, Texas and grew up in Whitehouse, Texas where he made a name for himself.

He would dominate in high school in baseball, basketball, and football in his younger years, before eventually deciding to play for Texas Tech at the collegiate level.

Therefore, Whataburger is a huge part of who he is. Now that Mahomes lives in Kansas City full time, it’s much harder for him to enjoy his favorite burger joint.

Thus, as a part of KMO Burger, Mahomes is set to bring over 30 new Whataburger chains to Kansas City and Missouri over the next seven years.

The first burger joint will be set to open some time in 2022. Mahomes is thrilled with the move, and he was very happy to give Kansas City locals a taste of his home. Mahomes would say:

“I love Kansas City and I love Whataburger. I’m excited to help bring a gift from my first home to my second home. And so, when I got to Kansas City, it was the first time I’d really been out of Texas and didn’t have Whataburger all the time. And so, I ended up talking to some people and we ended up making it happen where we’re going to have a lot of locations out here, and I’ll have a little bit of Texas here in Kansas City.”

NFL fans loved the move too.
