Tom Brady’s Former Backup Reveals the Similarities Between the 7X Super Bowl Winner And Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best QB in the NFL right now. Some may say he is well on the path to becoming the greatest ever, toppling even 7x Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. Perhaps, the best assurance of this comes from Blaine Gabbert, Patrick Mahomes’ backup who used to play second fiddle to the legendary Tom Brady.

Patrick Mahomes already has 2 Super Bowls to his name and is shy of 5 to match TB12’s record. Given that his performance is only getting better by the day, there is a good chance that Mahomes will reach and even surpass Brady’s record. Gabbert’s comparison, and the similarities he draws between the two icons, can only be reassuring of this eventuality.

Blaine Gabbert reveals what similarities he sees between Brady and Mahomes

Having spent three years in close proximity to Brady, Blaine Gabbert knows his playstyle and work ethic pretty well. This was one of the reasons why Andy Reid even brought him into the team this year. With his experience and his knowledge of Brady‘s playstyle, he could be a valuable asset in trying to make Mahomes the best QB there ever is.

“They’re both maniacal perfectionists. I mean that in the most endearing way possible. They are the best two in my opinion to ever play the game. There are similarities in how they operate, in the meeting room and on the practice field. They are completely different players, but the way they approach the game is the exact same”, Gabbert says, as per BolaVip.com.

Gabbert now also has the opportunity to study another great QB in the making. He seems impressed already with the work ethic Mahomes has, off and on the field. Mahomes is also well known for his magical playstyle. One that almost always guarantees him getting out of a sticky situation. Added to that, his flair on the gridiron ends up showcasing some great, unbelievable passes for the fans to enjoy.

“His attention to detail. He’s a master of the system. He approaches the system like day one, still taking notes like he’s a rookie as all quarterbacks do. There’s always something he wants to improve on”, Gabbert added about Mahomes’ process of studying games. It seems the Chiefs’ signal-caller is not yet ready to leave anything to chance.

Patrick Mahomes needs all the help he can get if he wants to be number one

Mahomes has cemented himself as a contender for TB12’s throne through his incredible performances. However, he still has a long and difficult path ahead of him to even reach within striking distance of Brady’s title. That path starts this season, as Mahomes goes on the hunt to get his third Super Bowl ring.

The Chiefs, on their part, are trying to give Mahomes the best chance ever to win every year. Just like last year, the Chiefs’ offense is stacked, and Travis Kelce’s presence only makes life difficult for the opponents. With the team as strong as it is, will the Chiefs successfully defend their Super Bowl this year? Or will Patrick Mahomes have to wait another year for a third ring?
