The Miami Dolphins announced recently that former 49ers tight end Tyler Kroft will be joining their ranks this season. The 31-year-old veteran has been playing in the NFL for almost eight years and is widely considered a good pick by the Dolphins. Kroft entered the NFL in 2015 when he was picked 85th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. He went on to play 4 seasons with them, before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2019. Though Kroft’s experience gives him an edge over these two, it may just not be enough to guarantee him a spot on the roster.
The Dolphins, though, may just look to him to develop their next generation of tight ends. The team already has 4 other TEs, which means the addition was likely just to fortify the depth chart. However, bringing Kroft in could give the Dolphins some much-needed time to mold rookie Elijah Higgins. What the Dolphins actually plan to do with him, only time will tell.
