Jake Paul is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most controversial influencers in the world right now. From social media to content making on Youtube, to professional boxing, there is very little this 26-year-old is not involved in. What’s more, it seems like he is close to adding yet another feather to his hat, dipping his toes in an entirely new ballgame: the NFL.

The controversial star began his journey on the now defunct “Vine”. Post this, they continued their online activity on Youtube. A short sting on Disney’s show ‘Bizaardvark’ only helped him cement his status as a rising personality. Though he has had a lot of controversial moments, his fanbase has only kept increasing, thanks to his professional boxing career.
Jake Paul signs a contract with hometown team Cleveland Browns
One of the most interesting news to come out late last year was Jake’s announcement about signing with the Browns. In a video he shared on his Instagram account, he says, “Crazy news guys. I got a contract with the Cleveland Browns,” before Browns’ VP J.W. Johnson rings him up. “Oh man, we’re fired up. Can’t wait to get you here today and get you to sign that contract,” Johnson said.
It was incredibly clear back then that Paul was not joining the Browns in a footballing capacity. However, the Browns did soon dispel any such rumors about their partnership, by announcing the real reason. The team announced that Jake Paul will be joining their social media team, perhaps in an effort to expand its fanbase. How that will help the team with its struggles on the gridiron, is to be seen.
The Browns have a tough task ahead of this year’s draft
While any team struggling to make an impact on the gridiron would be looking forward to day one of the drafts, the Browns, unfortunately, don’t have that luxury. Having traded away their first-round draft picks for 2023 and 2024, their first pick in this year’s draft comes on day 2. This could potentially rob them of an opportunity to bag a top player, though there have been players in the past with low draft stocks who have shattered all expectations. Like Tom Brady.
However, the Browns have a powerful QB to build around in Deshaun Watson. If they can somehow manage to get themselves a few good players in key positions, they should be able to unlock Watson’s potential and significantly improve their offense. Will the Browns find a way to get back to the top of the pecking order? Or is that something they will have to wait a long time for?
