Joe Burrow, one of the finest quarterbacks in the competition, is also one of the most handsome athletes currently active in the NFL. After all, it takes some doing to earn nicknames like Smokin Joe and Joe Cool. While there is no specific story behind ‘Joe Cool’, the Bengals QB actually once revealed why people call him Smokin Joe.

As it turns out, every now and then, Burrow likes celebrating important victories by smoking a cigar, which is why he got the nickname. After all, who can forget the iconic ‘Joe with a cigar’ photo which was taken after LSU’s National Championship during the 2019 campaign? In the said picture, mighty Joe was seen posing like a ‘king sitting on his throne’ while smokes billowed all around him which added immensely to the overall aesthetic. However, even Smokin Joe is nowhere near NBA GOAT Michael Jordan when it comes to maintaining consistency in lighting up those bad boys.
Michael Jordan is one of the biggest cigar aficionados the Sporting world has ever seen
As reported by Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, Burrow first posed with a cigar when he was just 7-years-old. So it would be fair to say that he grew up watching a few smokers around the house. Moreover, the superstar QB almost got arrested for lighting up a cigar inside a locker room.

During an appearance on Full Send podcast a while ago, Joe had claimed that after winning the 2019 National Championship, the team decided to celebrate by smoking cigars inside the stadium which apparently wasn’t allowed. The cops came close to arresting him and his mates but they were able to avoid trouble. So much trouble for just a few cigars? Well, wait for Michael Jordan’s cigar tales!
As it turns out, the NBA GOAT has reportedly spent anywhere between $500,000 to $940,000 on cigars alone. In fact, during a detailed interaction with cigaraficionado.com’s Marvin R. Shanken, M.J had openly talked about what size and brand of cigars he likes to smoke.
MJ, who loves Cuban cigars, had named Partagas Lusitanias as his favorite one before stating that whenever he was in a rush, he smoked up a Robusto, as it is smaller in size. Moreover, M.J had revealed that he reserved Montecristo No. 2s for nights only, and that too when had eaten something beforehand as those bad boys are really very strong.
Even on the day of the interview, Jordan had admitted smoking a Cohiba Siglo II, before making it clear that he isn’t going to reveal how many he smokes in one day.
Jordan looks to disrupt the liquor market with his ultra-expensive Tequila
Whenever someone talks about Michael Jordan, the word ‘elite’ almost instantly starts circling one’s mind. This is exactly why whatever brand he endorses or owns, ends up revolutionising that particular industry. Look at what Air Jordan has done to world of footwears.
Eyeing to create a similar legacy in the liquor market, Jordan, along with Wes Edens, Jeannie Buss, Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck, launched Cincoro Tequila in 2019. With distinct designer bottles, MJ and his pals targeted the ultra rich with their brand. Starting with the Blanco which is available for $72, the brand serves all the way up to Extra Añejo which can burn a $1500 worth hole in the buyer’s pocket.
Not only MJ, even other star athletes like Peyton Manning and Stephen Curry have entered the liquor market and it wouldn’t come as a surprise if even Burrow ends up launching his own Bourbon or Tequila in the time to come.
