OG and EG met each other on the 3rd day of DOTA2 TI9 in Semifinal of upper bracket. OG who toped the Group A and defeated EG back their were on full of confidence. They came in the semifinal after heavy 2-0 thrashing of another North American Team Newbee.
Meanwhile Evil Geniuses, who started their group poorly, had to work hard to reach the upper bracket. In the quarter final of upper bracket, they defeated DPC top Team and The International 2019 favorites Team Secret.
In the first game of best of 3, EG Picked Enchantress on S4, Terrorblade for Rtz and Lina for Sumail. EG’s Core got on to a great start after winning their lane against Topson Invoker and Ana. What made it worst for OG was their inability to kill Enchantress. With the farmed Terrorblade, in the end it was a easy win for EG.
In Game 2 OG responded by picking Enchantress for themselves while picking Void and Tiny for Ana and Topson respectively. EG decide to match OG’s pick with Gyro for Sumail and Terrorblade again for Rtz. Game 2 had the similar story as Enchantress was too heavy to kill, which gave time for Ana’s Faceless Void to farm and take the game away from EG’s side.
Game 3 saw intresting pick form EG as they went Antimage for Rtz. But against Ana’s Juggernaut, it would have always been difficult for Antimage. In the beginning EG got on to great start, after first killing juggernaut on side and restricting invoker in the mid lane. But again with Enchantress on the OG’s Team and Ana’s Farming ability, they respond quickly to take over on the EG’s side, which restricted them to farming camps and roaming freely. After just 25 min in the game OG took all the towers, eventually making EG call the GG.
With PSG winning from the other Semifinal, it is the repeat of last year’s upper bracket final between PSG LDG and OG. They will play on Saturday morning. EG have another chance to redeem themselves in the Lower bracket as they take on the winners of RNG vs Liquid tomorrow.
