Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets new Premier League record as the side earned a hard-fought draw against Liverpool.

An injury-hit Manchester United produced a fighting display at Old Trafford to secure a draw against Liverpool.

The side suffered from three major casualties in the first half as Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were all substituted due to muscle injuries.

Despite playing with a makeshift midfield in the second half, United secured a point against the league leaders as Liverpool look a mere shadow of their best.

Manchester United’s caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, created another record as the side secured a draw at the Old Trafford.

The Norwegian manager has scored 26 points from his first ten league games – the highest total a manager has achieved in the Premier League. Solskjaer is unbeaten in the league and has dropped points in only two games so far.

In his 14 games in-charge of the club across all competitions, Manchester United have won 11. His only loss so far has come in the Champions League against PSG. The Parisian side secured a 2-0 win earlier this month as injuries to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard marred United’s chances in the game.

Solskjaer led a brilliant turnaround at the club after Manchester United seemingly lost the track under Jose Mourinho. Under the Portuguese manager, the side was sixth and had a negative goal difference.

Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in December proved to be the final straw for Mourinho’s career at the club. While Solskjaer was appointed on an interim basis, there have been strong calls from fans and pundits alike to secure him as a permanent manager.

Even the Manchester United players, including Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard amongst others have called for Solskjaer to become the permanent boss at the club.

It has been reported that Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former manager of the club, wants Solskjaer to continue beyond the season. The Norwegian has spent the entirety of his playing career at Old Trafford under Ferguson, and many believe that he carries the club’s “DNA.”
