Pascal Wehrlein to join Daniil Kyvat at Toro Rosso, according to L’Equipe
Toro Rosso are all set to announce their 2019 driver lineup in Sochi, during the Russian GP.
With Pierre Gasly upgraded to Red Bull, there is one seat certainly up for grabs. Moreover, with Hartley not having put in bouts of impressive performances, the second seat too seems to be up for grabs.
Now, while the Daniil Kyvat move to Toro Rosso was almost confirmed by Robert Doornbos, the second seat still seems to have that ‘available’ tag.
A few days back, Mercedes had announced that Pascal Wehrlein will not under the Mercedes programme from 2019, as they had not been successful in finding a seat for the young driver.
“In his best interests, we have therefore decided together with Pascal not to extend our agreement and to give him the best chance of securing an opportunity elsewhere that his talent merits.” Wolff said.
Now, a few days later, Pascal has emerged as a front-runner for that Toro Rosso seat, according to L’Equipe.
“I am looking for new challenges and opportunities, and am currently talking to other teams about a cockpit for next season” Pascal had said after the Mercedes announcement.
Now, according to the French outlet Pascal Wehrlein was maybe referring to Toro Rosso seat.
Now, with all this movement happening, Vandoorne could get a spot as Ferrari’s development driver, as reported by La Derniere Heure.
“We have not been able to confirm this with Stoffel’s entourage,” the report said.
