Pogba was central to France’s World Cup victory.
The French midfielder inspired France to their second World Cup victory in their football history, as he scored a goal and kept the Croatian attack at bay in a 4-2 victory in the final. Pogba’s performances was impressive throughout the tournament and he also made it to the World Cup combined XI.
After the final whistle, he joined his teammates in the celebrations. However, he didn’t forget to appreciate his Manchester United teammates during the post-match interview.
The interviewer asked Pogba, “Your Manchester United colleagues Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard went close, semi-final, your friends. Jose Mourinho has said that in this tournament, ‘I have seen a more mature Paul Pogba’. “What do you make of those guys, what Jose has said and your old friends of course back at United?”
“Obviously I have so much respect for the guys who are at United,” Pogba responded. “Belgium some players, England players, Marcus, Jesse, Romelu, even Adnan [Januzaj], Phil Jones I spoke with them and they congratulated me,” said Paul.
“Victor, as well, from Sweden, texted me ‘good luck’ and stuff like that even when they lost so obviously they are very good friends and family to me. I really appreciate that,” Pogba added.
It was also noted that Pogba avoided mentioning Jose Mourinho. It was reported during the season that Mourinho had a few differences with Pogba and benched him in the Premier League.
However, Paul Pogba showed great discipline in a tactically disciplined role with France.
