Pelicans on Anthony Davis trade: We wouldn’t trade him for Beyonce
Reports have suggested that Anthony Davis could move to Lakers or the Celtics in 2021 when he becomes a free agent.
Davis would have to make a decision on the same , if he wants to join forces with LeBron James or form a dynasty with Kyrie Irving in Boston.
However, Pelicans head coach, Alvin Gentry has shot down these reports, saying that the Pelicans wouldn’t trade Davis for anyone, not even Beyonce.
The speculations about a possible Davis trade came into being as Davis switched agents recently. Rumours started doing the rounds that the agent switch was made because Davis was apparently looking for a move away from the Pelicans.
Davis had earlier stated that he felt like the best player of the league, an emotion that even Gentry echoes, emphasising on the fact that it isn’t because he is his head coach.
Anthony Davis says he’s the best player in the NBA – and yes, I asked him if he’s heard of LeBron & Kevin Durant. But AD points out he’s the only one if that group who was a finalist for both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year last season. pic.twitter.com/gc2njPliyQ

“Somebody argued the fact that, is he the best player in the league? I think so,” Gentry said.
“I’m sure I might be a little bias. I think when you have a player that you can trade for anybody in the NBA, then call him the best player, if you don’t want to call him the best, I call him the most valuable. Because if you can trade him for anybody then he is the most valuable guy in the league.
“Not that we would ever consider that. Don’t you guys take some kind of spin and put on that one. There’s no one in the league we would trade him for. There’s no one out of the league. Not even Beyonce. We wouldn’t trade him for her, then he’s probably untouchable.” he added.
