Philippe Coutinho Transfer: Agent delivers huge statement about Barcelona forward's Nou Camp future

Philippe Coutinho’s agent has denied his client’s move away from the club.

Kia Joorabchian, Philippe Coutinho’s agent, has verbally denied the Brazilian’s exit from the club. Ever since that £142 million move from Liverpool, the 27-year-old has failed to meet with the expectations at Nou Camp.

Back in May, he was also part of the side which was blown away by Liverpool in the Champions League. Even though three goals were scored by Barcelona in the first leg, Coutinho barely had an effect throughout the game. He was also nullified in the second part of the leg, when the whole team was striving for self-possession to see out the match. But, it was a collective failure as they failed to reach the final for the fourth time on a trot.

With the exception of that leg, the 27-year-old has always been pointed out for the substandard staging with the Blaugrana. He made 54 appearances last campaign, but managed just 11 goals and 5 assists, which is no way near the stupendous level set by Neymar before. It is also fair to point out Ernesto Valverde’s mistake – operating him through his second-best position.

Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain, as the Blaugrana are keen on Neymar reunion. It was also rumoured about the possible ‘cash plus swap’ deal which has been squandered by his agent Kia Joorabchian. He revealed that Barcelona are viewing him as a long-term option, and are not reluctant – keeping him post-summer.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Kia said: “I talked a few days ago with Pep Segura [general manager] at Barcelona,”

“He told me that the club does not want to sell Coutinho this summer, no matter what.”

He added: “We have not had any contact with PSG.”

Former Liverpool midfielder was also linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, but he turned down because of his allegiance towards his former club. There were widespread reports about the Brazilian’s agreement for a PSG move, but it has been turned down by his agent.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Philippe Coutinho looks increasingly likely to stay at the club for the forthcoming season.
