Days after being accused of defrauding the authorities of €14.8m (£12.9m) in unpaid taxes, the football community was sent into a world of frenzy when multiple sources stated that Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to leave the club this summer. In spite of Real Madrid denying these accusations and declaring absolute confidence in their star player on his tax duties, Cristiano is said to be unhappy with the accusations by the tax authorities and also at the Real Madrid board of directors for not being protective enough of him against these accusations. This has disillusioned the Portuguese which is why he wants the leave Spain this summer. So what are the possible destinations for Cristiano Ronaldo after Real Madrid?

And it is no secret that the Portugal captain has been quite unhappy with the Madrid supporters at the occasional whistles and boos directed at him for quite some time now. Reports that Ronaldo wanted to leave Real first surfaced on Friday in the Portuguese newspaper ‘A Bola’ who claimed his decision was “irreversible” and that he has already told his team-mates that he wants out and there is no turning back. Of course, reports claiming the possible transfer of Ronaldo shows up year after year and a large fraction of supporters remain skeptical towards these claims.

In fact, many even claim his insistence on a  transfer to be a distraction from the tax allegations against him. But sources close to Ronaldo has confirmed that his upset was genuine and that he feels he has not received enough support.   If the reports are to be believed, then Cristiano Ronaldo definitely will not be short of options should he leave Los Blancos, with clubs all around the world willing to splash money in order to sign the 4 time Ballon D’Or winner.

1) Paris St.Germain:

PSG’s admiration for Ronaldo is no secret.Various sources also claim that PSG held secret meetings with Ronaldo’s camp during the 2015/16 season in a bid to tempt the Portugese superstar to come to Paris. If the rumours of the Ronaldo transfer are to be believed, PSG club president Nasser El-Khelaifi would have absolutely no hesitation in attempting to bring Ronaldo to the French capital, especially after failing to win the Ligue 1 title for the first time since Zlatan Ibrahimovic left for Manchester United. PSG can remain hopeful as Cristiano might look for a new challenge to cement his place as one of the greatest of all time , .

2) Manchester United:

There is no transfer season without United being linked to their favourite prodigal son. Having being left frustrated by the Antoine Greizmann saga, club chairman Ed Woodward is desperate to bring a star signing to Old Trafford, and would happily jump at the chance of signing Ronaldo, especially as Mourinho is desperate for a number 9. It remains a bit unlikely, inspite of a large section of the Old Trafford faithful demanding the club to re-sign Cristiano, owing to the fact that he had an up and down relationship with Jose during his time at the Spanish capital. It remains to be seen whether he will opt for a move back to the club he loves immensely.

3) AC Milan:

The new Chinese owners of the once highly prestigious club has more than enough money to splash on a global brand like Ronaldo. However, seeing Ronaldo would still want to play in the Champions League and remain in proximity to the Ballon D’Or, a move to the Italian club seems extremely unlikely.

4) Bayern Munich:

Cristiano might turn to the Bundesliga for a new challenge, and need not look any further than the German champions which would also give him a chance to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti ,with Ribery and Robben struggling with injuries as they slowly reach the end of their careers.A move seems highly unlikely however,as there may not be enough space to accomodate Cristiano in an already star-studded line-up,as well as the fact that Bayern have Alexis Sanchez on their radar.

5) USA:

David Beckham’s LA Galaxy is on the lookout for a star signing for their upcoming season, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic being a leading contendor for the spot. It’s not altogether impossible to try get Cristiano to sign for the most glamorous club in the MLS. However, it seems extremely unlikely for Cristiano to make a move to the United States just yet, although there have been strong rumours about Cristiano preferring to retire in the States later on.

6) China:

A monstrous 300 million pound bid was already placed by multiple Chinese clubs in an attempt to secure the services of the Real Madrid superstar last year. The pay is ridiculously high, as well as a chance for Ronaldo to expand his brand value in Asia. If money is his focus, then China is the place to go where he can also revolutionise the league and turn it into a respectable brand that can be globally acknowledged. However, one would like to think Cristiano prioritises his ambitions and his playing career over other miscellaneous reasons.

Of course, as always Ronaldo is more than likely to extend his stay at the Spanish capital. It would come as a huge blow for Los Blancos if Ronaldo does opt to look for a move away from Madrid. It wouldn’t come as a total surprise, however, if club President Perez do decide to cash in on the 32 year old, with reports suggesting the possibility of a 110 million pound bid from Madrid to secure Mbappe’s services. But this is Cristiano Ronaldo we are talking about. There’s a reason why he is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time and Zidane would have quite a job in his hands to replace his star man.
