Prithvi Shaw reveals Virat Kohli's advice

Prithvi Shaw reveals Virat Kohli’s advice: Shaw spoke in the affirmative about how captain Virat Kohli’s advice came good for him.

Prithvi Shaw, India’s U-19 World Cup winning captain, is all in likeliness to walk out to face the new ball alongside Lokesh Rahul in the imminent first Test against West Indies at Rajkot on the day after tomorrow.

The 18-year old right-hand batsman from Mumbai will become the 12th youngest Test player for India, only two spots behind his first India coach in Ravi Shastri. Shaw will be the third cricketer from Mumbai (after Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri) to feature in this list.

In another list of cricketers, Shaw has become the third cricketer (after Mohammed Siraj and Rishabh Pant) in the last couple of days to wax lyrical about the Indian captain in Virat Kohli.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Shaw spoke about how he sought help from Kohli in England. When the Indian team was in England, Shaw was a part of the India A team which had also toured England at almost the same time. It was at this time that Kohli gave a priced suggestion to Shaw.

“Batting ke time, England me swing hota hai. So the opposition played with lot of mind. They knew where to bowl and how to bowl to each batsman. I asked Kohli how he managed to score all those runs. He told me that he always puts the team before him. Woh hunger apne aap aa jata hai,” Shaw said during the interview.

With the kind of hype which Shaw’s bat has generated in the last year or so, it is obvious for the teenager to face the pressure of the big stage as well.

On being asked about the same, Shaw said that he always remembers suggestions received from the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. “When such thought process come I just recall what Sachin sir and Rahul Sir have told me. Just let be in present. Rahul sir always say 200 runs which I have scored is past now, I can’t change that, so be in present,” Shaw added.

Below are some of the recent Twitter reactions on Shaw:
