Rishabh Pant praises Virat Kohli

Rishabh Pant praises Virat Kohli: The youngster appreciated his captain for helping out the new players entering into the team.

Rishabh Pant, who made his Test debut in India’s last Test series against England, has praised captain Virat Kohli for welcoming new players like him into the team in a way which instills confidence in them and aids them in settling in the team environment.

Pant scored a swashbuckling maiden hundred in his third Test at The Oval and was subsequently named in the squad against West Indies as well. With Wriddhiman Saha still injured, Pant appears to be the top-contender for the wicket-keeper’s job to board the plane to Australia next month.

The 20-year old hard-hitting southpaw is not the only player who has advocated in Kohli’s favour with respect to him being a learning curve for the newcomers. Mohammed Siraj, who has received a maiden-call up into the Indian Test squad, also revealed how Kohli made things easier for him ahead of his T20I debut last year.

And it is neither the first time when Pant has praised a senior. Previously, he was vocal about how a wicket-keeping advice from former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni had worked wonders for him.

Pant spoke about Kohli in a TV show named ‘Cricket Ki Baat’ on India TV. “As a youngster, it feels good when your captain backs you. It builds your confidence. I will look to capitalise on the opportunities I get in future after a Test ton in England”, he was quoted.

Apparently, he was referring to Kohli’s praiseworthy words for him after he had scored his maiden Test century. If murmurs are to be believed, it won’t be much long when you would see Pant getting a go in the ODI side. Below are some of recent tweets on Pant:
