Rafa Benitez: Alan Shearer furious with Newcastle United board following Rafa Benitez's departure

Alan Shearer expresses his unhappiness following Rafa Benitez’s departure from the club.

Yesterday, an official statement from Newcastle United confirmed the exit of the manager Rafael Benitez from the club. The Spaniard refused to extend his contract – following the motionless ownership change.

Reports which read about the United Arab Emirates (UAE) firm taking over the club – has abruptly winded up. Insinuation indicates that current owner Mike Ashley will proceed with his regular drill at the club. The Chief Executive of SportsDirect is not just splitting the fanbase, but the crestfallen fanbase is aversing the unpreventable failure in the upcoming years.

Club legend Alan Shearer, who represented the Toons between 1996 and 2006, has slammed the board for this pitiful decision. The English International took this matter to Twitter and pinpointed that the club is in shambles currently.

The Tweet read: “A world class manager. A manager who performed so well in very difficult circumstances. A manager who understood the fans. Thanks and good luck @rafabenitezweb you were brilliant for the Toon. #SHAMBLES

There was an unutterable bond between the fans and the gaffer – as Shearer indicated in the above-mentioned Tweet. The fans were anticipating for an ownership change ten days ago, but it’s been quite the opposite as the pre-season starts in a week.

Some reliable journalists confirmed that Rafa Benitez was not even aware of the statement yesterday. Another indication that the Spaniard did not enjoy a good relationship with the owner, who has been publicly criticised, rightfully so.

Sky Sports reported that the former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is in the wishlist for the English side. There is a huge contrast between the Israeli International and the outgoing Spaniard.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Newcastle United have already started their managerial search, but the fans have no hopes.
