Ramsey leaving because of Ozil: Various Arsenal fans believe that Aaron Ramsey is leaving Arsenal because of Mesut Ozil.
Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation has been a pain for Arsenal ever since the turn of 2018. With an improved contract for Mesut Ozil and the arrivals of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, Arsenal have been reluctant in accepting Ramsey’s demands for a new contract.
BBC journalist David Ornstein reported on Thursday that talks between the club and Aaron Ramsey for a new contract have broken down.
The Welshman’s current contract at the club expires in 2019, and Ramsey is free to contact other clubs over a potential move from January 1 next year.
BBC reports that Aaron Ramsey is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs from January next year.
Many Arsenal fans now believe that Mesut Ozil is the reason behind Aaron Ramsey’s departure from the club.
Mesut Ozil signed a new contract with Arsenal this year, which saw a huge improve in his wages. The former German international earns 350,000 pounds/week under his new contract at Arsenal.
Various ‘Gunners’ fans have stated that such huge wages have set a precedent for other Arsenal players, and it is natural for them to be demanding such high amount.
Aaron Ramsey has been an Arsenal player for the last ten years and has been a key member of the club in the last seven years.
Here is how some of the fans have reacted:
Mesut Ozil’s bumper £350,000-a-week pay packet had an effect on Aaron Ramsey’s contract negotiations, The Debate panel said.

The problem with Ramsey
1 Ozil is not worth £300k a week
2 Ramsey thinks he should be on Ozil’s wages
3 Ozil & Ramsey should both be on £150k ish
4 Ozil & Ramsey have done almost nothing this season
5 They both need to leave

Ramsey has more assists and goals than Ozil since start of last season. I’m not saying he’s a better player, but bumper contract for Ozil last January – in a month they also paid big for Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan – seems to have caused as many problems as it solved.

The £350,000 a week we gave Mesut Ozil is now the benchmark for any player negotiating a new deal.
You can’t blame Ramsey or anyone else if they look for significant increases when you pay someone that much, regardless of their reputation or ‘star quality’.

Ozil & Sanchez refused to sign contract extensions at Arsenal because of pay rise. One moved away & got the money, the other stayed & got the rise but Arsenal fans are saying Ramsey should show loyalty & get peanuts?
Man broke his leg for the club, pay him good money abeg.
